"We dined two nights at the very small (5 tables) La Telline while staying at their hotel, Mas de la Forge (separate review loved it). The menu was the same both nights, and we get the impression that it changes a bit with available fish but otherwise is pretty constant. There are a handful of appetizers, and on the two nights we had the escargots du mer (spiral shell sea snails), the telline (tiny clams, sweet and amazingly good) and a highly priced dish of fish eggs which had been pressed, dried and cut into thin slices undoubtedly a delicacy but not to our taste. They offer meat, and although we didn't have it the steaks looked massive and smelled good. We stuck with fish, which Jean Paul cooks over the fire in the dining room (as he does all the dishes). Be aware that when you order fish it is a whole fish. Because of the style of cooking there's no way to cook a half. So if one person wants fish he/she faces (depending on the sizes of the fish that came in that day) a very large and expensive (priced by weight) meal. Our compromise was in one case to split a fish and in another to have a fish and the eel, which could be done in a smaller portion. The fish was all perfectly cooked, moist and delicious. They leave the scales on the fish to keep moisture in in the cooking and then discard the skin, which is not something I've seen before but the result was great. Desserts are excellent. The riz au lait (rice pudding) was extraordinary, as was the chocolate gateau. Flan was tasty but mild by comparison to the other two. Wine list is good, and Jean Paul happily steers you to a vin du pays from the lower end of the price list, something I always respect. Florence is the bustling heart of the room, taking orders, plating the fish, and generally filling the space with her cheerful conversation and presence. An evening there is warm, comfortable and delicious."

We returned to La Mas de la Forge for two nights and two dinners at La Telline. This visit was even better than our first, last year. How these people serve lunch and dinner, maintain a top quality chambre d'hote, provide a generous breakfast boggles the mind. When do they sleep? Every plate at both dinners was perfectly sources and prepared. The cooking is very simple, which is actually the most difficult to do perfectly because there is nothing behind which to hide. Pristine fish and shellfish, local Camargue rice and excellent local wine. Add generousity and warm hospitality. We will be back next year to this treasure.

restaurant located in camargue. The arrival is a little surprising, we thought we were at home. the decoration is exceptional (you must love the embracing), the very nice reception, the tables decorated simply, but very warm. not a lot of tables, a very nice fireplace. There's a lot to tell. for dishes, very good. cooking of meat and fish is done in the fireplace, the pieces are of choice and the cooking is just what it takes. a small flat, the cbs are not accepted and a little lost to go to recover species in a distributor. a very good address. We'll go back with great pleasure. especially that the restaurateurs do not change anything to this great atmosphere and their cooking mode.

The entrances are excellent, and we especially appreciate the chef's proposal to replace each of them with two half-entrances, which allowed us to taste the lemons in Mayonnaise, of course, served in very generous portions, but also the lentil salad, octopus salad, bull terrine, the very fresh and well composed. The dishes have less brilliance, however. the fish, certainly very fresh but simply cooked on the embers and served with rice and carrots, is a dish that can please by its hardiness and simplicity but remains fish just cooked on the embers, a little too sumptuous. For desserts, we only tasted milk rice, with intense taste, and chocolate dish, a little fade. The room, around the firep...

"This restaurant is part of a hotel in a very impressive 16th century building. It looks very classy. However, the night we were there, there must have been some serious problems in the kitchen (or maybe it is always like that . We started with a shared plate of charcuterie which took a long time to arrive – how long does it take to arrange the cold meats on a plate? We then waited a very, very long time for our main courses. While waiting, we saw a dispute at another table involving the maître d’ and resulting in plates going back to the kitchen. We had both ordered duck à l’orange which came with Camargue rice. The rice appeared to have been baked in the oven and was so crisp and dry that it resembled a cereal bar. The ‘orange’ was not the usual sauce, but instead was four cubes of orange that appeared to have been scorched on a grill. They added nothing to the dish. It had been suggested that we should share a side of seasonal vegetables. These turned out to be big chunks of boiled potatoes (with rice! , a boiled root vegetable and a couple of dry artichokes. We had interchanges with two servers and the maître d – all were cold and brusque. We lived in France for more than 20 years and appreciate the fact that the French like to take their time with meals, but there is a big difference between leisurely and glacially slow. Perhaps we were there on a bad night, others seem to have had a better experience."
