"Le Moulin à Huile, Saturday May 22nd. All palates Nordiste, Provencal, British and luk krueng Thai, young and ... not so young captivated by the subtle, harmonious flavours, the uninterrupted gastronomic quality throughout our meal, as we savoured each of the dishes on...the 3+3+3 choice 33€ lunchtime menu. Le Moulin was formerly cheffed by Robert Bardot, Meilleur Ouvrier de France 1976, double Michelin starred at Le Flambard in Lille followed by a star at Le Moulin à Huile. He has been a hard act to follow after he stepped from the kitchen for the very last time in 2014, 79 years old. It didn 't quite work out for the new owners between 2014 and 2019, before chefs Amandine and Jérôme Blanchet took up the challenge. Then months after their arrival in Vaison, Covid arrived on the scene, devastating the restaurant industry. Since spring 2020 it 's been a stop start affair between lockdowns, the most recent closure lasting a full six and a half months. Yet for Saturday 's lunch, a day after reopening, Amandine and Jérôme have hit the boards running. We had some delicious meals here prior to the last Covid enforced shutdown, and here they have once again shown themselves to be worthy successors to the Bardot reign. Even better than I remembered. Two tasty amuse bouche appetisers, followed by a delectable deconstructed Pissaladière 'tart ' with red mullet, Entrechaux saffron scented rouille sauce, fennel and a bouillabaisse jus. Dining partners had the two alternative entree options the first, a slow cooked organic egg on brioche toast, with local white asparagus and a choron (tomato flavoured Bearnaise) sauce. Daughter chose the third entree, a Le Puy lentil salad with a traditional whole grain mustard, and a square of duck confit. Main courses each sampled the baked monkfish, accompanied by a typical Basque 'piperade ' side of onion, green pepper and tomato with chorizo, polenta chips and Nyons olives, creamed piquillo pepper. Deluscious. For the youngster, braised Provencal lamb shoulder and a pink grilled chop on a bed of Dauphine potato straws, with an onion confit jus. Demolished. Two of us had chosen the open ravioli of chicken quenelle, veal sweetbreads and green asparagus in a supreme sauce, generously decorated with slivers of summer truffle. Delightful. A very good selection of cheeses from Vaison 's Lou Vanestiou shop to conclude, while the ladies went for the sweet desserts the bowl of Crestet strawberries with elderberry in a pistachio cream with a crumbly almond streusel topping, the Royal chocolate dacquoise and mousse wrapped in a crunchy praline, with vanilla ice. Petit fours and a quality coffee, and we were ready to roll. Literally. 33€ for such a high standard of cuisine sourced from quality, fresh, locally produced seasonal ingredients, is a total bargain."

Decent and honest food. Price-quality ratio is ok. Don't expect high-cuisine and you won't be disappointed. Nice terrace.

we went to this restaurant because previous reviewers commented on the new owners and the fresh new menu. we were not disappointed. we could only order appetizers and plates. for beginners we had both the smoked dungeon with Gorgonzola cheese and green...beans for our plat we had the ravioli with chicken-quenelle, garnel, mushrooms and a cognac sauce. everything was divine!

This restaurant on the edge of the main town is beautifully situated on the edge of the gorge, stunning views and outdoor terraces. The food was the second best we have ever tasted. First is always Ca an Roca in Spain. However this, in terms...of cooking, came a very close second. Beautifully prepared and trimmed with nibbles, cool soup and garnished coffees it was just awesome. Pissaladière with Rouget and lamb were outstanding

We were so happy to find this place. Recent owner Chef and his wife cook up delicious meals with a beautiful presentation. The Chef came out to meet us and told us about himself and his background. Very delightful. We ate indoors because of the...weather but was happy for it. Loved the inside, cave like feeling made it feel intimate and cozy while not actually a small place. Every dish we ordered had the right texture and taste. We thought the price was extremely reasonable. Well done!

we were some days near Vaison-la-Romaine and our meal here was our favorite. it was recommended by our hotel. as we were a couple, we could only choose from the 3 curs menu, at 72 euro per person, it is...not cheap, but the quality of the food was very good. we both enjoyed the Ceviche star, fresh, well flavored. I had the open lobster ravioli that was so delicious. my man had the faint that was also excellent. the puddings were good, but we were pretty full until then. very good service. I would recommend it

we stay in vaison for a month and I must say that this was one of the best dinners we had. the restaurant is easy to reach by walking from the city, but there are also plenty of parking nearby. the inner courtyard is beautiful. with view of the river, and very quiet. service was excellent. we had some problems with the service on this trip due to sub-benefits. not her. the restaurant has beautiful haptics like an amuse bouche. two in the did. very good wine list. but the best was eating. we had three excellent and interesting dishes. my favorite was the Ceviche star. great meal.

We went here on the advice of our hotel as most of the ones we wanted to try had booked up in advance. Located below the old city and just across the river from the new city, it was easy to find. The only reservation...they had open was close to 9:00 PM. When we arrived, we were shown to a quiet corner table. At this late hour, we were surprised to see one other couple and three couples with small babies along with a very large group, celebrating in a separate room. The noise level was a lot louder than we had expected. The service was good but like most restaurants these days, they seemed a bit understaffed, especially with the large group. It was fine with us as we like slow dining, especi...

First class lunch at the Moulin à Huile restaurant in Vaison. Quality environment, service and superb meal. Attention spent on every detail. All staff (kitchen and service) rigorously applying masking precautions throughout. Many years since I last visited; at the time it was a more...pretentious 1* Michelin restaurant run by French 'Nordistes '. I by far prefer the current manifestation. Bear in mind that the price differential between here and the town centre, 300m away, is minimal. But the difference in attitude, care and effort, combined with the beautiful location next to Vaison 's Roman bridge, easily makes it worthwhile. Delicious dishes and entremets. When no one asks me how would yo...
