"After reading positive reviews, I was excited to dine at this restaurant. However, I was disappointed with the experience. Despite there being other available tables, we were seated at the end of a large table even though we were a party of three. The starters, grilled scallops and chicken satay, were underwhelming. The scallops were tiny and lacked flavor, while the chicken satay was chewy and tough. The mains were also disappointing, with tasteless spicy rice and tough beef. The prices were high for the quality of food. Service was slow, with other tables receiving their meals before us. Overall, I had a bad experience and even received a discount for expressing my dissatisfaction. The photos online may not accurately depict the portion sizes and flavors of the dishes."

Great vibe in the middle of such a great market. No wonder it picks up awards. Lovely flavoursome food for a good price. Best Thai food in Shrewsbury. Well done.

I visit this gem of a place every time I go to Shrewsbury. The food is super fresh and tasty. I had the monkfish panang this time which was phenomenal It’s advisable to book as it gets very busy. Really can’t recommend this place enough Speisekarte ansehen

The waitress who took care of us was excellent. She asked all the necessary questions and was knowledgeable about the menu. We only ordered a few small dishes, but they were all delicious, fresh, and aromatic. The Noodle Soup, in particular, was outstanding.

This cafe is situated in the excellent Shrewsbury market hall. It specialises in excellent Thai Street food. We had an assortment of starters and main courses, which are very reasonably priced. The food and service if excellent. I would recommend booking as it is very popular. A great lunch experience.

I had the pleasure of dining at this charming family-run restaurant, and I must say, it was an absolute delight. Every dish we tried was incredibly fresh and bursting with delicious flavours. It's hands down the best Thai restaurant in Shrewsbury. My only small disappointment was the inability to make reservations, as it can be quite challenging to secure a table due to its popularity. Wow, wow and more wow. What a great little find this place was, we have recently moved to the area and in just a couple of weeks we have been here twice already. The food is fantastic and amazing value. It’s bursting with flavour and just the right amount of spice. I’ve got to say the green Thai curry was the best I’ve ever had in the UK! The service is brilliant too, all the staff are happy and friendly. We will be back many times very soon.

We visited the House of Yum during one of the evening opening events at Shrewsbury Market. There was a large queue for tables, but we only had to wait about 15 minutes. My wife and I shared 3 starters. These included chicken satay skewers, spring rolls and scallops. This was followed by a Thai chicken red curry and Thai duck yellow curry. All the food was delicious, we can’t believe we haven’t visited before. We are already planning a lunch date.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
