"We had a great experience at a special York restaurant called Wash Deal. The food was delicious and good value for money. We were happy with our choice to dine there. The starters we had, cauliflower and cheese soup, and lamb koftas, were both excellent. The main meat dish (pork) was good, but the vegetable option (mushroom pearl risotto) was a bit dry and overwhelming. The chocolate parfait dessert was the standout for us, while the panna cotta had a more subtle taste. The wine options were nice and the staff were friendly. We were fortunate to have a proper table to sit at, as some diners were on high bar tables that were not as comfortable. Overall, we felt that the standard menu was a bit pricey compared to the set menu, and there weren't many options for those with a sweet tooth. It seems to be a better choice for meat lovers."

Fabulous unique dining experience, smaller portions means you can try a few dishes with ease and have room for pudding. Staff are welcoming and helpful without being intrusive.

Found by chance, brilliant find. English style tapas. Eat as much or as little as you like. Good food, great value. Excellent staff, attentive without being in your face. Go try it, you won't be disappointed.

The atmosphere is cozy and you can feel really comfortable while enjoying food and beverages. They have fair prices and great service, very friendly staff. It's the kind of place you would go to spend sometime in a warm environment and enjoy the decoration as well.

This is the place where I would love to open a restaurant in London, or really anywhere. The use of local ingredients is inventive and the dishes are presented in unique ways. The portion sizes are just right - bigger than tapas, smaller than mains - and the prices are reasonable. The flavors are fantastic; we especially enjoyed the fennel seed baptismal cakes and the Yorkshire pudding with sherry. The wine selection is excellent as well. If I lived in London, I would definitely try the entire menu. This will be my first choice for dining when I return to York. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant, even though I am usually not a 5-star reviewer.
