Osteria Cocotrippone

A lovely find in Florence just outside the tourist area of Florence. Very welcoming hosts and a lovely menu. One of those special evenings eating out on holiday. Couldn't recommend more highly and excellent value.

Absolutely beautiful food and service was fabulous. Away from the main tourist area yet less than 30 minutes walk from our hotel this was a gem of a find. Our food was delicious with an intensity of flavour. Well worth a return visit! Highly recommended.

We were recommended this place from our host. MAMMA MIA! It was incredible. Fabulous location in the ‘proper’ part of Florence, more authentic and excellent prices. The service was fantastic and the owner even contacted us afterwards to make sure everything was OK. The raw fish platter was an absolute highlight, the bottle of local wine lovely and the complementary Prosecco to start and Limoncello to finish was a great touch! We will definitely come back here when we return to Florence!

We took our 10 and 6 year old here, and we accept that they are not your average chicken nugget eating kids, but they like us were wowed by the food here. This is no tourist trap, this is an grown up and local, modern establishment. They have the most lovely staff and really stunning food. Nothing is unreasonably priced we thought and it’s all done with real skill. So, go because you love good fish and seafood just know that no tourist destination; It’s for discerning foodies who don’t care that there is no view of a Micheal Angelo sculpture or beautiful church from the window and that’s because that is not the audience this place is seeking. I've been trying this place for a few years. every time I went past the food store, it was packed and the pasta with muscheln looked soou good. a hospitable gave me an excuse to finally dine here and it was not disappointed. I called a reservation because it was pouring and outside seats would not be available. it went, warmly welcomed and sitting. there were glasses offered by prosecco that was a beautiful note. did the server/owner take the advice? had a nice starter followed by the spaghetti with whistle and bottarga and the risotto with garnel. also a very nice bottle white wine. everything was fantastic and I didn't let anything on the tellers. the atmosphere was beautiful and I did not... Exhausting day in Florence and needed a positive experience. Telephoned ahead and the waiter said there would be room without a reservation. We had the rice with clams which were amazingly fresh and excellent, rice with red shrimp, and a fried mixed seafood platter which was excellent. Everything was very fresh and we had no complaints about the food. The place is tiny thus it offered no space or privacy, though a next table discussion with cultured strangers offered some distraction. There is everything to love about Osteria del Pesce… ambience, a kind and professional staff and, above all, delicious food which was classic in preparation and inventively presented. We reserved our table for an early (gasp!…19:30! dinner and were greeted not as foreigners (you know, the type make 7:30 reservations on a Friday night but with the same familiarity locals were welcomed.
