"Visited here for the first time this May for my birthday and now can't help but keep on popping back! Have had the Taster menu twice now and it is such amazing value compared to other places and excellent for a special treat .On our first visit Gordon came and explained the menu to us as we weren't really sure whether to order it and that was so nice. Really like the pub classics- like the ribs too. Dogs are welcome in the pub area and the service is friendly and efficient. You never feel rushed and feel like you can relax here. I think it's great to find a place where you can get really good simple pub food or have a very special tasting menu just depending on how you feel. Beer is good and wine is perfectly nice. Nothing not to like . They have it just right."

Over the last few years Gordon Stott has just got better and better. The food combinations and presentation is sublime. The best place to eat for many square miles!

We've eaten here before and the food was good, however last night the menu was quite uninspiring, two of us had the beef, Cook to perfection, but very salty as was the mash! One had the pork, enjoyed the tart but bland pork and salty veg,...

We had a fantastic dining experience at this cozy restaurant with great service from the friendly and attentive staff. The food was excellent with beautiful presentation, a diverse seasonal menu, and meticulous attention to detail, including some delicious classic dishes.

The service at this restaurant was top-notch, the food was outstanding, and the wine selection was average. The menu may be short, but it covers all the bases. The beetroot starter was exceptional, with Beetroot Tart, Walnuts, Apple Sorbet, Caper being one of the best beetroot dishes I've ever had.

The food at this restaurant is fantastic. I tried the Scotch Egg, Seabass, and chocolate delice pudding and they were all delicious. The service was attentive yet not overbearing, with a warm and friendly staff. The dining area is cozy and the atmosphere is nice. I would definitely give it a 10/10 rating.

Booked a table for myself and my wife for her birthday. Easy booking. Varied menu. I can see why the restaurant was full because I can honestly say this was some of the most delicious, tastiest food I have ever had. The service was friendly, informative and courses timed to perfection. A lovely atmosphere in the restaurant made it a wonderful evening. Thank you The Purefoy Arms.

We eat as a treat there, every few weeks. The food is utterly amazing. Everyone is friendly and lovely atmosphere, relaxed, 'pubby ' feel but still special. I 've been fortunate enough with work opportunities to eat in high end restaurants in London and food is just if not better! Recommend any of the soups they are amazing and the homemade bread and special butter is awesome! Beautiful meat and combinations of flavours! Thanks A and T x

"Visited today for lunch and probably wouldn't rush back although I'm aware there's recently been a change in management so maybe a few teething troubles. Messaged via their Facebook page to book a table, no response. Never was a problem in the past. The pub was very cold with no heating at all so we had to keep our coats on. Several tables near us commented the same and all sat with coats on. The coffee machine was out of order so only instant available, which wasn't pleasant. We waited a long time for someone to come and take our food order, in the end I went and found someone. Two of us wanted the steak ale pie. Only then were we told it wasn't available. The chap said we should've been told when we were given the menus, well it was him that gave them to us! With that he said he'd give us a few minutes to choose something else and walked away. He didn't come back so I had to go and ask to place our order again. At no point did anyone ask if we had any food allergies, which I thought was a requirement these days? The food was really good, credit to the chef; it was well cooked, well presented, large portions and very tasty. We did notice that two other tables waited a very long time for their food and had to chase it up, so glad we ordered when we did. We would have stayed longer and had a dessert but it was so cold we couldn't relax and enjoy it. We were next to radiator and we did ask one of the waiters if it was possible to turn it on and he said he'd see what he could do, which was nothing as it remained stone cold! When our plates were taken we asked for the bill, but it didn't arrive. Eventually a young lady arrived with the card machine and asked us to pay, which we said we'd be delighted to do once we received our bill! When we left we walked past 3 different members of staff, all of whom had waited on our table at some point during our visit. Not one of them made an effort to say thank you or goodbye. There was no warm ambiance or friendly feeling in the pub, it felt cold (literally) and unwelcoming. I also felt that a couple of members of staff waiting on tables looked rather scruffy, none of them wore a logo'd t-shirt which I feel the staff should do as they're representing the pub or brewery. It was difficult to distinguish the staff from the customers!"
