I had a great experience tonight at Spice Rouge in the old town. The atmosphere was amazing and the food was excellent. The staff, especially table 15's Chef Waiter Chussain, were very attentive and accommodating. The manager Kamran also ensured that we were well taken care of in terms of food and drink. The food tasted like something you would get at a takeaway bland and characterless. The naan bread was good, but everything else the curries, the biryani, the starters were so so. Not bad tasting, but not good either. The lamb was too dry and stringy for my taste. The service was just like the food passable, but not satisfactory. The food was well presented this being the only plus about it. There are better curry houses. Not going there again.

I ordered takeaway last night for a party of 5, so the bill was not cheap. When it arrived, the food was stone cold and I had to reheat everything. The meat was tough and there was very little sauce on it. Additionally, the chicken pieces and chips had to be put in my air fryer to be cooked properly. I called to complain, but after being put on hold twice, they showed no interest, did not apologize, offer a refund, or show any care at all. The service was absolutely appalling and I will not be using or going to that restaurant again.

I had an evening meal here with a friend on Saturday night partly for nostalgic reasons as the restaurant is in what was The White Hart pub, a lovely old historic drinker and a firm favourite of ours years ago during our youth. Although the layout is pretty much the same as it was but the decor is bright with pink and blue fluorescent lighting which has modernised the place up. It was quite busy with a nice burble of chatter but they managed to seat us straight away. The service was good without being overbearing. I ordered the Lamb Shashlick and a keema naan but what I got wasn’t what I expected. I thought it would be lumps of lamb in a creamy sauce with onions but what I got was tandoori c...
