"In my opinion, this is the best takeaway in Carrickfergus. Everything is incredibly fresh, and the fact that it's all prepared right in front of you really makes a difference. The owners are a lovely couple who are more than willing to customize your meals to your liking. My personal favorite is the pork pad kapow, although every other dish I’ve tried has been excellent as well. I also want to give a little shoutout to the pork spring rolls—they're fantastic! "I was pleasantly surprised by the interior of the restaurant. I had initially thought it was a dingy pub, but it turned out to be fresh and colorful with cheerful Christmas decorations. The staff were friendly and our orders were promptly served. We all enjoyed our meals, although I must say that the wheaten bread in my open prawn sandwich was too hard and dense for my liking. Everything else was delicious."

"I was thrilled to discover Ownies on Happy Cow! After a refreshing dip in the sea at Fisherman's Quay in Carrickfergus, I was looking for a cozy spot for a hot vegan lunch. Initially, I was about to head to a chain restaurant when I found Ownies. They offer a few vegan options, and we both opted for the vegan lasagna, which was delicious and exactly what we needed—served piping hot. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely with booths and warm fires glowing. They even accommodated my request for vegetables instead of chips, serving up boiled carrots and parsnips that felt like comforting home cooking. Although we didn’t get a chance to try dessert this time, I’m sure we’ll return soon!"
