"We visit Peels about once a year, this is the third time we’ve chosen the tasting menu. We have always had a fabulous time. The format has changed so that you can choose either a 4 or 7 course tasting menu. There is now no a la carte option. We chose the 4 course tasting menu with the accompanying flight of wines. The flight of wines option was £55 each. In contrast to previous years, the wine served was very frugal. Between 4 people I doubt we enjoyed more 2 bottles of wine in volume, at the absolute most, though I appreciate you are getting the benefit of a wine description as it is being poured parsimoniously. The ingredient combinations for each of the four courses were quite safe bland, some of the textures not quite right. The meal was rescued a little by the chef’s additional extras which were more flavoursome than the main dishes. The environment the ambience were very enjoyable, though the service became a little ragged as the night wore on. We used gift vouchers which made a partial contribution to the meal (without going into detail) the handling of these was clumsy to say the least. Normally I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Peels but, on this experience given the expense, I couldn’t currently do so. In short, I suggest that Peels needs to up its game, especially where the food is concerned."

"We stayed here several times for a drink and food, but never before. tested on 13/05/22 and found the reception staff very welcoming, check-in was fas and easy, we ordered a breakfast for the following morning at £9 per. The room itself was clean and tidy with tea and coffee accessories. I saw a few Rev before we booked saying that the rooms where dating and beds uncomfortable, in my honest opinion I wouldn't vote, yes could be a touch of color here and there, but we slept very well, although the walls are a bit thin that doesn't disturb us. In the evening we used the bar and ordered food and drinks again with friendly faces and promt service. Breakfast was self service and it was value for money a lot of choice of cereals, yogurts and boiled items. The restaurant is a beautiful and real beautiful view"

"Arrived for our first visit to this restaurant a few minutes before our 8:00 p m booking, but the table was not ready as the diners from an earlier booking were lingering; we were about to discover why. Invited by the proprietor to take a drink in the lounge of the pub below and 20 minutes later the gentleman came down to collect us and our drinks. For starters we shared a tandoori combination and for mains we chose a couple of the signature dishes supplemented with a dhal, portion of basmati rice and a nan. Not only would I would describe the taste of the food as outstanding, but the quantity of food was also ample. We really took our time to enjoy all the flavours. It is quite a small restaurant having perhaps 35 or so covers. It seemed to us that there were many regular diners as there was a fair deal of friendly conversation with the staff, but this did not delay or spoil the service in any way. All in all we had a splendid meal and a super evening."

"First time in this beautiful Italian restaurant. We had travelled fourty five minutes to get there to meet relatives who had come up from Kent. Staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful and knowable about the food, especially the young man. The food was superb freshly cooked ingredients, large portions, and so much choice. And although we did not have any alcohol there was a very good selection. All in an excellent. Place an my husband and I will be coming back again soon. We would highly recommend. "Given this was the first day after lockdown it was excellent. The guidance has clearly been followed and the restaurant was clean and safe. Staff were very patient with my elderly mother who has limited mobility and dementia. The food and wine were lovely. We have book again for next Sunday"
