"I never really write reviews but after my experience here I had to! my husband and I came here on a whim on a Tuesday as most pubs around the area are not open on this day which left us bummed out and hungry. was surprised to walk in and have a lovely young lady named Tara to come to take us on for lunch. the pub did seem a little short-staffed for the number of people in the establishment but she handled it great regardless and still greeted everyone with a big smile and had good knowledge of the beers on draft such as the 2 local ales which I was very impressed by. even offering 'tasters ' before we bought a pint. she even took the time to talk to us, asking about how our week had gone and made us feel very comfortable whilst dining here. the food was great, can not fault it in the slightest, wish we could 've had room for pudding! The only thing I would say is that it does look like more staff is needed as the poor lady did seem to be doing everything, taking and bringing out food and drink our as well as ensuring all customers are happy but all in all was very smooth and food was brought out in about 20-30 minutes which we couldn 't complain at! I would definitely visit again just to experience such great service, we were told that other days of the week they do offer a larger menu as Tuesdays unfortunately, is a limited menu and I would be eager to try the haddock scotch egg which the waitress spoke about."

Food (Sunday lunch) was great, service well considered, no draught bitter. Dining room and bar well laid out. Overall very good.

Having tried to book Sunday lunch at three other pubs in the vicinity of Marlborough which were all fully booked, my friend and I were pleased that The Bell at West Overton had space for us. His roast beef and my roast lamb were tender and tasty and served with plenty of vegetables. We would definitely go there again.

Arrived expecting to find a pub and found it had changed hands two weeks earlier and reopened as an Indian restaurant we were obviously among the very first customers! We were given a warm welcome, the food was absolutely excellent and the service attentive. I would highly recommend the Goan fish curry, mild and deliciously seasoned.

Went in because the Wagon Horses was shut and what a great idea. Lovely little pub/restaurant. The young lady said Tuesday was good because it didn't get busy! How wrong she was!!! Despite the influx of half the population of Wiltshire they managed wonderfully well and the food was lovely. Top marks for both the bar and kitchen staff.

Lovely seating area by the window, decorated with cozy cushions. Staff were lovely and friendly and very professional. Plant burger very tasty and salad lovely and fresh. Also recommend the digestive biscuit ice-cream and the mango cheesecake...YUMMY! Food was beautifully presented. Everything lovely and clean, even the loos. Had a really lovely experience, thank you B

We recently stopped for an impromptu lunch at The Bell and were very impressed. They had a large group to serve so gave us a clear wait time, which turned out to be very accurate. The service was friendly and attentive, the dining room is nicely laid out and we loved our burgers which were of an excellent quality. We will definitely eat here again (especially as central Marlborough is often rammed)!

Now reopened as The Burj at the Bell and sister restaurant to The Burj at Wanstead near Swindon. The staff were super attentive, and the food was excellent. Our visit was just a few days from the re-opening, and they have thoughtfully re-organised the layout whilst retaining a bar section (during week days) which seems to go down well with the locals! The dishes are very authentic. Should be a great success.

Birthday meal visit on 28th Oct turned out to be very disappointing sadly … having been before and had good food and service we were looking forward to our time there. However a series of inadequate things amounted to an feeling of surprise and disappointment. Over priced … inadequate portion sizes and second rate service all led us to feeling we wouldn’t be returning again… we appreciate times have been hard but ripping people off with measly portions is quite frankly taking the p…. ! Cannot recommend at this time. Pull your socks up please!!

Arrived in the restaurant, received no greeting from the staff and were left waiting until I forcibly caught a waitresses attention and she brought us to our table. After being seated and waiting a good 15 minutes to place our order we were informed there was no lamb left. Then after ordering the beef we were told there was no red meat dishes available (beef, lamb, pork). The waitress seemed genuinely to not care and just stated that the meat order that had arrived the day before had been incorrect. She offered us 10% off our meal but at this stage I decided to cut our losses and leave. As there was no phone reception I asked the waitress book us a table at the Waggon Horses, which she did....

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."

"We had a tremendously good lunch here today-the food was quite delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful-I’d say it’s probably one of the best lunches I’ve had in quite some time….so to give you a clue we both had the pork-this sounded really lovely and we were not disappointed-pork belly, tenderloin,a faggot and a ham hock croquet with mashed potato and roasted cauliflower with a delicious jus and a slice of pickled apple( which I ate immediately with a piece of pork and when the waiter came to ask how our lunch was I asked if he could possibly get me another piece-which he did For dessert we shared the passion fruit crème brûlée which came with a passion fruit sorbet and some chocolate soil…..the focaccia we had at the start of the meal was superb and the coffee was also excellent -we do enjoy both cooking and eating-one of life’s pleasures and it’s abundantly clear the chef absolutely loves food too-a great display of cooking books from the greats sort of got me thinking it would be a good lunch…….also worth noting the drinks menu-some lovely wines, soft drinks and cocktails both alcoholic and non alcoholic. I finished off with a mocha which was hot chocolatey but not too sweet. Bradford on Avon is most definitely worth a visit and I’d say you would be foolish to miss out on a great experience if you didn’t also pop in to the bunch of grapes for some sustenance while there… Thanks for lunch and as Arnie says “ we’ll be back”….."
