"We came back to try this restaurant after not being able to get a booking last summer as the reviews looked good and it always seems to have a queue. Overall I felt a little let down, and was expecting better food (and selection), especially for the prices they are charging. But I the staff were super friendly and the service was good. We had calamari and black pudding to start, but the calamari was so deep fried it felt like I was at a take away. The black pudding was nice enough and the accompanying chutney went well with it. The calamari didn't taste bad but if you have access to fresh fish then why deep fry the hell out of it. So many other places do a light, tempura style batter, that is so much nicer. It just felt a little unimaginative. For mains we had scallops and hot smoked salmon, and I would say I was a bit disappointed with the options in general. I expected a broader selection of fillets, other than just salmon. The scallops were cooked well and tasted fine, but again I wasn't blown away. I didn't think the beetroot puree went well with them personally and potatoes and a side salad also felt a bit simple. The hot smoked salmon was again fine, but nothing fantastic, and lacked any depth of flavour. Overall the food was fine, we had no complaints in terms of quality, it just felt like they are missing a trick with all the fresh fish they have, as it all felt a bit bland and for the price I walked away feeling a bit let down"

5 stars for the food and the staff smiley face. Daisy, the waiter, attend us, awesome customer service from her. How much can a place change from a good customer service. Btw, went here second day for the Scotish Cullen Skink soup. And the lobster.... yummy

You can find a spot around 8:30 PM just before they close. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious. The portions were quite generous; we ordered three mains and a soup for about £60. The restaurant is usually very crowded, but they don’t take reservations, so it's a good idea to arrive early for dinner!

Food rivalling the service. Excellent. Google listing said 6pm but it opens at 530pm. Got late for the 1st sitting and had to queue up. Those who areived post 7pm didnt have to queue as heaps of people from the 1st seating exited at a similar time. Ordered the salmon from the traditional menu and from the specials, the mussels and dressed crab.

As it was lunchtime we ate at The Deck, the Lower Deck seems to be an evening restaurant. Whilst the food choices are limited, and as Portree is an area that catches shellfish mainly, we decided to go for the Seafood Platter for 2. It was well worth it! The service was excellent too. Whilst the facilities are not as high class as some of the other restaurants we could not fault the food. Would recommend if you are happy without the frills which we were.

TL;DR great place for no frills seafood. after a long journey from glasgow we starved. we parked in the city center and made us find something to eat. unfortunately it was a little past 2 pm and most restaurants near the square near 2 pm before they later open at 17 o'clock to dinner. thanks for the lower deck. her dining room was quite full, but for the luck they had a few open tables near the window. we sat right away and ordered half a kilo and the cold smoked salmon. the mushes were cooked exactly right and their tomato sauce really well paired. the smoked salmon was delicious. I liked the crackers that came with the laugh. they were almost like cookies. we were very happy with our meal.

TL;DR: A fantastic spot for no-frills seafood. After a long trip from Glasgow, we arrived and parked in the city center, eager to find something to eat. Unfortunately, it was just past 2 PM, and most restaurants in the square were closed until around 5 PM for dinner. Luckily, we stumbled upon this place. The dining room was quite busy, but we were fortunate to find a couple of open tables by the window. We were seated right away and ordered half a kilo of mussels and the cold smoked salmon. The mussels were cooked to perfection, and their tomato sauce paired wonderfully. The smoked salmon was delicious, and I really enjoyed the crackers that came with it; they were almost like cookies. Once inside, we noticed there were only about 10 or 15 tables, so I understand the long wait, especially since Portree is a popular tourist destination. My friend and I both ordered the fish and chips, which were served within 15 to 20 minutes—perfect timing as we were quite hungry. Unfortunately, we couldn't really tell how the fish was cooked, as we ordered quickly and didn't get to enjoy it coming straight from the fryer. The fish itself was quite good, but it did have a few small bones. For dessert, we both had the chocolate mousse and ice cream, which was delightful. Overall, our visit was pleasant, but I wouldn't be in a rush to return since it was just fish and chips, and the wait wa...

we explored the weekend around the island skye, and since there was a Sunday, there were not many restaurants in the opposite. after the research we found out that the restaurant lower deck was open and accepted only walks as they do not offer phone bookings. when we arrived, there was a pretty big hurry out and it rained, so we were absolutely intruded 45 minutes ago until a table was free. Once we were in the restaurant, there were only 10/15 tables, so I understand why we had a long wait and portree was the tourist capital, they will always be popular. I myself and my friend both ordered the fish and the chips that were served within 15/20min, which was fantastic when we were really hungr...
