"My husband and I have eaten at Buccelli's many times and so he decided there was no better place in Lancaster to hold a surprise 60th birthday celebration for me with family and my closest friends. I later found out that Bruno the owner, had been very accommodating in organising a menu with my husband, with a choice of great options, that were pre-ordered. The food, wine and service on the evening were fantastic and helped to create an atmosphere that reminded us of times we have spent in Rome, where a meal is an integral part of a celebration. I was delighted with my surprise celebration especially when I realised where I was going and our guests, several of whom had not visited Buccelli's before, were very impressed with the quality of the food and the range of specialist wines available. I want to say a very personal thank you to Bruno for all his help in the secret planning of the evening and to his amazing team of Ben, Bonnie, Jake and Theo for making it a night to remember! For all of you who have never been to Buccelli's, you don't know what you are missing. It's a little piece of Rome in the centre of Lancaster. Whether you go in for lunch, dinner or just a coffee and cannoli, you won't be disappointed!"

The Water Witch

"The restaurant boasts an idyllic waterfront location, but unfortunately, I had the worst mushroom stroganoff of my life. In fact, I’m not even sure what I was served; it was definitely far from authentic. I couldn't find any mushrooms in the dish, and I wondered if I had mistakenly ordered something else. However, the bartender was very pleasant and took it back to the kitchen. Unfortunately, the replacement wasn't much better either. I've included a photo for reference. If this is your interpretation of a stroganoff, I think it should be clearly indicated on the menu. What a shame!"

"I don't write many low star reviews but I was quite disappointed with my visit to the White Cross. The venue is lovely and I'm sure would make a lovely stop off for a few beers on a nice summers day. Unfortunately our group meal wasn't great, half the menu was not available (that isn't an exaggeration), I wish we had been told this when we booked. The food we did get was on the poor side of average, I got the feeling their chef was a stand in.. If we go again we will no doubt just hit the nice selection of beers they have."

"I used to love comingt to Medusa but now their staff doesn’t speak English and it’s really hard to order our meals. My daughter has allergies and our group spent a good few min trying to ask a question to a red haired young waitress that speaks very little English. We think she was a waitress as she wasn’t wearing the usual uniform and was just eating behind the bar. When we got our food, it came wrong but we didn’t even complain because we knew she wouldn’t understand. The service used to be very good, the waitress were lovely and polite, but now it’s hard to order anything and as a loyal customer of Medusa for many years, I should say that you should hire front house staff that actually speaks English. We had a party for 15 booked but I’ll be cancelling it."

"Being local and hearing good reviews about the restaurant I finally thought I'd treat my partner. We were both really disappointed. For a fine dining establishment with fine dining prices we could have had a better experience and better food at a pub or cafe. I had chicken supreme, the chicken was dry and over cooked, the sauce was barely lukewarm, the asparagus was cold, and when asked if the food was OK, I mentioned the sauce and asparagus which was replaced but the sauce was still only lukewarm. My partner had the beef bourguignon, she was also not impressed as the sauce tasted burnt. I had a piece of the beef and it tasted like it had been stuck to the bottom of the pan and burnt. She wasn't asked how her food was after I'd mentioned my meal. No follow up conversation about the meal and they were happy to take our £122, extortionate for what we both considered to be no more than poor pub grub. Would not recommend."
