"Since all the hotels and B&Bs were fully booked in Saffron Walden, we decided to stay at Queens Head for one night. However, our experience in room number 1 was a disappointment. The room was damp and dirty, and the bathroom was in dire need of renovation with moldy and rotten areas around the bath. We were only given two towels, and there was no bath mat provided. The breakfast was also disappointing, with food that tasted like it came from a popular frozen food chain - bland and minimal. The service was subpar, with a long wait between being served tea/coffee and placing our order. Upon checking out, my husband mentioned the damp and musty smell in room 1, but received little concern from the staff. We were charged £75, which was way more than what the experience was worth. We would not consider returning to or recommending this establishment."

We have visited this restaurant several times, both for meals and just for drinks. We always receive a friendly welcome and we highly recommend the pub. The food is also very good.

You can't go wrong here. The food is fantastic, the service brilliant and the landlord and his wife among the friendliest people you could meet. And to top it all, the value is amazing!

Visited for a roast . We sat there an hour before they served the starter then it was about that again for the main . Food wasn't that great . Plate was absolutely overflowing with gravy which was really salty . Won't go back .

Just had a yummy lunch here, had great service by all of their friendly staff members. The lunch was extremely well made and very tasty too. Service was super fast! And they are very welcoming for dogs and children. Would definitely recommend!

Lunch at the Queens Head was hilarious! Not only did we enjoy the chicken burger, nachos, halloumi and chips, but were entertained by the publican and barman with stories about the village and Brexit! Lots of fun and a satisfying and economical lunch on top.

They serve great food , real Pies (not in a bowl with a bit of puff pastry on top)....very tasty. We also had a sunday lunch which was plentiful and tasty. Traditional pub with good traditional fare, plus a range of fish dishes. Friendly and attentive service. Highly recommend

Having parked in the car park, we walked to Saffron Walden to get some exercise. Arrived at the pub and it wasn’t busy but had a great atmosphere. Couple of pints at the bar of which I have to add that the staff were very friendly and efficient. In to the restaurant and we both went for the Sunday roast beef and asked for extra gravy which was no problem. The food was stunning and probably the best roast I’ve had in a restaurant. It was all cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. We will definitely visit again!

I 've been to the Queens Head a couple of times. One Sunday we had the Sunday lunch special and I wasn 't bowled over by it. My whole plate was saturated in gravy which made everything soggy. I would have preferred the gravy on the side. The next time I went I had dinner there which was a very tasty beef wine pie with gorgeous creamy mash perfectly cooked green beans. Plus some gravy 'on the side '. I was impressed. My husband 's Goan Curry was awesome and the children 's meals went down very well! Plenty fish fingers on my daughter 's plate and a lovely big burger on my son 's! My only little quibble was the plethora of stingy nettles in the children 's outdoor play area. I would personally...
