"Called here as a halfway point on the Cleveland Way Coastal Walk. On the cliff top there is a sign saying cafe. From the coastal path you walk up a very steep hill, through a very steep campsite and eventually you are there. I consider myself quite fit but even I was out of puff! But the cafe was clean, the staff welcoming with a nice menu to choose from. We had a ham and cheese sandwich which I forgot to take a photo off. But I must say it was probably one of the best sandwiches we’ve had."

"We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Ditto last year and were disappointed to learn it had closed. However relieved to find it open again just in time for our annual visit to Whitby. Although the food was still very good it was marginally not as good as last year. My chicken dish looked messy and was under seasoned, the portions large for me. Service was still very courteous and perhaps too efficient. Would have liked more time between courses, it all felt a bit rushed. However the food was still very good and we will be back next time in Whitby."

"I have gone past this place on travel to whitby in 2017 and had never had the time to visit: but today I have managed to! late the day and near the time they closed the kitchen, I had expected a warm greeting: but after a relaxing cuppa and watching 'friends' on the telly, I ordered a 'all breakfast'... a beautiful meal was perfect. (although next time I exchanged my black pudding for drilling. I don't know when I'm back, but I'm back."

"I've been visiting Whitby for years, but this year was the first time I noticed Beckett's. It has a wonderfully cozy atmosphere, reminiscent of a café mixed with a library. They offer a few clearly marked vegan soup options. Although I can't recall the exact name of the soup I ordered, I believe it was something like spicy coconut chickpea soup. It was delicious! Instead of bread, it comes with rice cakes, but make sure to ask for them. They also provide non-dairy milk, so you can enjoy a drink alongside your soup. This is an update from my previous review on November 28, 2022."

"I visited today with my wife and we both loved it absolutely! a warm and friendly welcome as soon as they enter with options either a lounge area (where dogs are welcome) or a dining area to sit. there is a large selection of foods, including vegan and gluten-free options. I chose the homemade rindburger (I added halloumi on mine), all perfectly cooked and full of taste. my wife chose the mushroom pate that was also delicious (especially with the onion cutney) along with a very generous and particularly delicious side part of sweet potatoes! there was also a delicious and wide range of really interesting drinks. the two games we chose were “black johannisbeere and Lakritz” and “rhubarb and rosehip”. we were too full to try the gloomy, but they looked amazing and will definitely have to rehearse another time. thank you we will come back!"
