"Craving a hearty meal after skipping breakfast and lunch, I ordered the chicken teriyaki soba, expecting a sweet and flavorful dish. However, the teriyaki sauce was neither sweet nor sour, and instead packed an intense spicy punch. As I swirled the oddly textured, rubbery noodles, I discovered bits of scotch bonnet pepper lurking within, explaining the excessive heat that unfortunately was not indicated on the menu. On top of the unwelcome spice level, both the chicken and noodles suffered from dryness despite the sauce, with the meat lacking proper marination. The redeeming factor lay in the usual perfect roti that accompanied the meal, but the teriyaki soba itself proved a letdown. Next time, I’ll stick to my standard go-to, the amai katsu, to avoid getting burned by false advertising on the spice factor or stomaching overcooked noodles. This offering missed the mark for my preferences and fell short of expectations."

4 Good Food Good Service Good Atmosphere. Needs more pictures on the menu! Fried squid was excellent, but not what I 'd imagined. Fried Gyoza were a bit dry, and lacking the 'freshness ' of other dishes. Disappointingly expensive Saki, but good Asahi Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Wagamama have been updating their menu and we live it. You must try the Bang Bang c'flower and the prawn nori rolls. I had the beef brisket ramen which was a tour de force. Staff are very welcoming. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

On a bustling Friday evening at Wagamama, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The food was top-notch, served piping hot and swiftly. Our total bill for 3 main dishes, 3 starters, and 3 drinks came to £73. Despite being overwhelmed with customers, the staff remained extremely helpful.

I ordered the salmon teriyaki with soba noodles. It was nicely presented, but unfortunately, the salmon fillet was dry and tasteless, making it inedible. My friends ordered the chicken ramen, and we found the soup to be lacking in flavor and tasting like salty water. We will definitely be avoiding this restaurant in the future.

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant! We were seated without a smile or greeting and rushed to a table. When our food arrived, my friend's dish was covered in ingredients she had requested to be removed and had prawns instead of tofu. After sending it back, a second dish was brought out with a huge black hair wrapped around the noodles. The manager's response was dismissive, saying "these things happen, there's not much we can do." After waiting 40 minutes for a replacement dish, I won't be returning to this Wagamama.

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
