"From our arrival for a pre booked table the evening before, we were greeted with there is no booking in the book, from one of the girls serving, note Jill was not here tonight. The girl who should have booked it was not working Friday night, so could not be quizzed. We did see another table that was free and asked if we could take it, so told yes. We ordered some drinks and took some menus to peruse and after a while I had to ask for someone to take our order. We were told that some one would come when they had finished serving other customers there meals. Starters and mains ordered for the five of us,still no one came with the cutlery, so I went to get some,as the starters came, all very good, every one enjoyed them, as is the usual standards here. We waited a while for the starters to be cleared then waited and was about to go and ask if there was a problem, when at 21:30 for our mains to arrive much too long from arriving at 20:00. Then after eating our mains it was really too late to concider any deserts.Once again the food quality was very good and all enjoyed their meals. Asked when we came to pay if everything was alright we said it was not, we thought waiting for one and a half hours was way too long. No apologies given. We noticed that the kitchen seemed to be light on staff this night, also the girls serving seemed much too pre occupied with their phones than on customer service. Jill was not in attendance this evening, as we have noticed previously standards do seem to drop when she is not there. This is real shame as this evening was booked on our recommendation and fell short on the experience we were expecting. Hence our friends do not wish pay again for a similar experience. If there was an underlying issue, nothing was explained and no apologies given. Come on Jill we know you are capable of maintaining the high standards we have come to know."

"We come here a lot so I have based this review on our overall experience over recent years but also to make people aware of a ridiculous policy we encountered this week. I don 't know if this particular staff member was having a bad day or if this is genuinely a new thing but it was very poor. We came for a family meal due to celebrating a grandchild birthday so were ordering a lot of food for everyone. We got confused and forgot to stipulate what drink we wanted for a couple of the meals. We realised just after we had paid and asked for the drinks before we had left the bar, just to be told No. You should have asked for them and now it 's too late These meals come with a drink so should not involve anything other than pouring the missing drinks surely? In the past we have always been asked what drink we would like when ordering a meal with a drink so this just seemed utterly ridiculous. The woman was borderline rude and just shrugged when we questioned this saying it was our fault and now it 's too late. I have still given this a 4 star review as we have always had good service before from most members of staff (including the one in question), the food is generally consistent and we usually enjoy ourselves when we come but this new policy (if it is indeed a policy) is terrible customer service. A polite reminder is all that is needed if people forget to stipulate a drink surely?"

"A very tasty traditional Sunday Roast, with all the trimmings, for a good price. The Kings Arms does itself proud with its well presented roast dinner; Beef, Lamb Gammon and Pork on offer also a combination was mentioned at the bar when ordering, so you can mix and match! Additionally a fish option (Salmon was on the board and a risotto dish, which I think may be the vegetarian option. As usual, I stuck to the beef. This came with a generous serving of succulent, tender beef it was well done and no option was given for rare I presume this had been slow cooked, as it was 'melt in the mouth ', so no negatives. Alongside came a large stuffing ball, roast potatoes that had a nice crispness, mash, roast parsnip and Yorkshire Pudding. The veg was well cooked (just right not too much! and generous, consisting of cauliflower cheese, cabbage, carrots and broccoli. Horseradish sauce was offered, which came in a separate serving dish. Nice. A special mention goes out to the gravy, which was 'proper ' rustic and not the thin watery 'juice ' so often seen. This had flavour and body. Brilliant. There was also plenty of it! A friend had Lamb, and also said it was lovely but she couldn 't finish as the portion size beat her: I did threaten her with a child 's portion initially, which are available. Never got around to any 'afters ' but did have a nice glass of Shiraz with the meal; nothing special here, but pleasant and sold by the glass. The beer was pretty good, although I never finish a full pint if having a roast so hence the switch to wine. The Pub is a proper local, and as such has great, pleasant staff who really care about your visit they obviously care about repeat custom, which is how it should be. As a very busy local, there are the usual signs of wear and tear don 't let this worry you it is just a sign of a very old pub doing a roaring trade day in, day out. It has character. I reckon if you 're in the mood for a proper good roast you will be pleased to make a visit. You need to book! I 'll be back, as Arnie said."
