"Went out with our friend for his 49th Birthday, had a lovely meal, service was excellent, food delicious and very reasonably priced. Me and hubby had lamb, which was very tender, Bangladeshi birthday boy was vegan and was not disappointed. Staff very friendly, a bit excessive with the hand shaking,but that's my English reserve !. The place was full on a Wednesday night, with mainly locals, so whatever they are doing, they are doing right. I would recommend booking to avoid disappointment! The doggy bag was just as tasty the morning after"

"We were looking for somewhere that was open on a Tuesday lunchtime for a new year dinner with family and plumped for the Heron as it was one of the few open on this day. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt as we did arrive as one of their first guests after reopening this year but the service, while friendly, was quite slow after ordering. They had a nice fire going which we appreciated coming in from the cold and wet weather outside. In better weather the outside beer garden would have been a good place to sit and eat. Food was ok, nothing particularly spectacular, but decent portions and tasty nonetheless. Price was a little high for what came, 3 courses were averaging around 30GBP per person. Quite a few locals were eating lunch as well so obviously it's a regular place for them. Overall, with not a whole lot of choice in the area, an ok, if pricey, meal in an ok place."

"We decided to go here for New Year’s Eve lunch as we didn’t want just a Sunday lunch option and the number of pubs open was limited .we have been to the pub many times in the past and had good food and a good time. Sadly this was not the case this time . Our starter came out reasonably quickly but it then took an hour and a half for our main meals to arrive and I had to ask twice where our food was. People that came in after us had finished a two course meal before our mains had even arrived. The food quality was very poor. My belly pork was very dry, the short rib was gelatinous, the fish was very wet with soggy batter underneath and the Sunday lunch was over done and you couldn’t cut the beef with a knife. We didn’t have a pudding as I was discussed that we had to wait so long and when the food came it wasn’t worth eating. I did speak to the waiter before I left to explain how unhappy I was. The place was packed and they shouldn’t have taken the bookings if the kitchen couldn’t keep up. I wouldn’t recommend this pub, which is a real shame."

"Glad to see Tim Martin doing his best to avoid his clients becoming alcoholics went here to have a few drinks and a meal, with brother in law, nephew and friend. Spent 20 minutes queuing for first round when we entered ordered second round on app, after waiting over 45 minutes for it to be delivered went to bar and collected it ourselves, Never had meal kitchen was closed twice whilst we were there. Avoid this place. Staff were good no fault to them they worked hard pity they didn't have support from management."
