"11 of us went to the River Thai on a Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday. We had booked in advance and were asked to pay a £5 per person deposit which was fine. We were hoping to sit outside and enjoy the view of the river but the English weather had other ideas! Once we'd all arrived we were seated inside at a long table that had plenty of room. Starters arrived in no time and were delicious, especially the mixed plater for 2 The mains if anything were even better, delicious selection of curries and stir fries, we had a few vegans and vegetarians in the group who said their meals were superb. Drinks were a reasonable price and the service was excellent . Overall there were 11 very happy customers with no complaints at all, will definitely be back"

Friendly welcome and a table by the river. Mojitos were very good. Would return and try the food next time.

Lovely starter’s and mains absolutely divine. Have been here a few times with friends so decided to take my partner who though it was really good. We went on a chilled sunny sunday.

My review is the total opposite to some previous. We were welcomed and served well, the menu was varied and our food fabulous. Decent price and are outside by the river. Highly recommended

A great place to hear awful loud music, hardly any food on offer and I wonder do you have a PRS licence? I would also suggest the tone of your answers to other reviews leaves a lot to be desired. The customer is always right after all. Speisekarte ansehen

This is the best Thai food I've eaten, you could tell that everything was fresh, staff were lovely very attentive. The restaurant was really clean I was surprised to see the previous reviews! Mixed starter was so nice it's great you get to try everything.

Stopped for a drink by the river, lovely spot and plenty of space so decided to stay for some food only to be told food not for walk ins as kitchen was busy. There were also several birthday/hen groups so a strange mix between those wanted relaxed river side dining and those out for a few cocktails before a Saturday night

Was mega overpriced, not enough staff on the bars. outside the area was dirty, and glasses weren't collected, so no tables were cleared to sit at,toilet area was disgusting outside, and there was no lighting, and the inside wasn't really much better. Judging by the comments, the manager is leaving on reviews here, i dont think I'd return from the pure attitude of the management Speisekarte ansehen

If only we would of took pictures.....it started off unusual when we were being made to pay for the whole meal before we even had it. I have never been asked to pay for a meal before you have eaten it?! Had the Thai me up cocktail to me told by the waiter it had fresh mint in it....we pulled out black rotted mint leaves and to go with that 8 black ants!!!!!!! The dumplings were 3 little tiny things with mincemeat?! And the salad on the starter plates was most definitely off! The curry was so sweet?! And for £18 it was meat shavings...we did inform what we thought...Will never return, left feeling hungry and a belly full of ants

First round of 4 drinks £26, second round of drinks £44.20 approached the manager a couple of days later as at the time the electric went down while buying at the cabin and people pushed in front of me. Manager proceeded to tell me I had bought drinks for my group that we don't drink, no negotiation he said that is what we had. They had an event on that night, with 4 toilets, ones round the back had poor lighting, more could be said about that area. Many people spoke about the high prices of the drinks, surprisingly no one eating either, cost again a factor? Safe to say I will not go here again. Not many positive reviews on here at all, maybe need a rethink of prices and attitude

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. If you are looking for a curry house with a difference this is the place for you. #theshropshirefoodies #foodblog #foodstagram #shrewsbury #shropshire #restaurantreview #foodjournal #foodblogger #instafood"

"Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
