Hubby and I popped in for a pint , ended up having absolutely brilliant meals and drinks! The pub itself is beautifully decorated, giving off a spacious, warm, friendly ambience. The staff are so lovely and accommodating. We will definitely be returning. Well done. Jane...and Pete

We booked the Captains Table for my It was perfect . From booking , to the welcome, the food, the service, offers of help from staff when we decorated the room, outstanding. The evening went very smoothly and all our guests were very impressed....Great room and great night, highly recommend

Sunday Lunch was a big disappointment when the roast beef arrived it was actually thin slices of meat found usually on a Deli Counter pilled high with gravy and yorkshire pudding. Nothing on that day was worth the final bill. This place used to have...a really good reputation but sorry to say did not impress us and we will not be back.

Used to work here a lot of years ago, so always a place I want to visit, the views from the windows are so relaxing, great service from all the staff, and the food is always excellent, with lovely choices, and you will walk away...a member of the ship' family. We have visited a few times since my last review, had really nice meals, staff are friendly efficient, nice atmosphere, today we had a lovely meal, served by the lovely Ronnie, such a lovely young man, nothing too much trouble, even served our dog...biscuits on a plate! Being dog friendly is a bonus, lovely warm atmosphere, we live minutes away by car but worth the travel! Can’t wait for the next visit

This place has gone downhill rapidly. Recent visit was very disappointing. The food was poorly cooked and definitely not fresh. Fish and chips seemed to be out of the freezer. Sea bass salad was bland and the sea bass was very overcooked. Had to wait...ages for one of the meals for one of our party. Everyone else had nearly finished. Expensive considering the distinctly average food. Nice location and the interior is well presented. Staff appear to be working hard front if house. Would not recommend or return.

I visited here this evening December with my wife and year old daughter(and dog). The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly also. The food was delicious. Plenty on your plate, fresh and full of flavour. Anyone...complaining about the price, maybe read good before you go and view the menu, then if its too much don't go! We had starters and main courses, also drinks each. Still only came to pounds. Can't complain at all on a Sat evening. Will definitely visit again

We've had many visits when I would have given The Ship the full stars. Compared to most places it is ...until you factor in the prices, which are quite expensive. Undoubtedly the food is generally excellent, the beer well kept and the staff friendly....It is usually busy, testament to it being a quality venue. During the last couple of visits, just minor niggles took the shine off slightly. A couple having to sit with one or both in a corridor seat'. Receiving a pint of Heineken where the of foam doesn't reach the top of the glass. Already a pint, leaving out the top feels a little like taking with both hands. If money is not a factor it's fine! If value' comes into the equation, I'm holding...

Friends took us to The Ship at Freckelton to help my husband and I celebrate our golden wedding anniversary. Yes, my friend didn’t notice we were time limited and I wished we had been told on arrival that our table and room we needed rather...than the manageress coming and abruptly telling us that we had to leave our table as it was ‘ needed in minutes’ We hurried and picked up our drinks, coats and bags and after we had been told that there was room downstairs we struggled but found no tables. We sat on a reserved table to finish our wine. This spoiled our evening and celebration as we would have continued with more drinks and happily finished our lovely evening with our friends.
