"Well, where do I start Nice comfortable atmosphere, me and my business partner opted at the specials board after a meeting locally, I had a barbecue pulled pork baguette which was delicious, very filling, comes fries and lovely homemade coleslaw, my partner had beef bourguignon with the mustard mash, very flavoursome and the beef cooked exceptional I feel like I could bring clients here for a meal after another meeting Looking forward to trying more from the menu as some of the other guests meals looked well prepared and smelt delicious This is definitely a fantastic find I will be returning promtu"

"The rooms are nice and clean, but the en suite bathroom has a glass door and an automatic light that illuminates the whole room if you go in during the night. The food in the bar was excellent and generous, with meals like ham, egg, and chips that could feed three people. The breakfast was freshly cooked, and they even cooked a sausage for my dog. Overall, I would definitely book here again. Rooms: 4/5."

"After a great experience last Sunday we went back this Sunday and we’re not disappointed. After my husband was feeling dizzy from the heat, Chris, one of the new owners, was very kind. We had booked a quiet table and he escorted us to a delightful table in the snug, bringing iced water etc. The starters of crab and gazpacho were just right and we followed these with roast lamb washed down with pints of ice cold Estrella. All was delicious…. But the gravy…. Was in a league of it’s own! Proper gravy made with the meat juices just like Grandma used to make! This week my husband plumped for the fish and chips and I started with fish goujons otherwise we repeated last Sunday’s choices. Sadly, we are not local otherwise we would be eating here regularly. We wish Chris, Pinder and co every success in their new venture!"

"Stopped off without a booking and we were fitted in. Not a huge menu but the food was home made and very tasty. I loved the pickled red cabbage with my gammon. "In the beginning, God created many things from Monday to Saturday and on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. Or did he? No. No he didn’t. On the seventh day God created Bennys. This biblical reference does not do justice to just how divine a Bennys is. It is a kebab/pizza/fast food shop steeped in glory and mystery. Some scholars have actually considered Bennys as the final resting place of both the ark of the covenant and the Lance of the Longinus. If Dan Brown has written another book, I have no doubt Bennys would have featured because the food is so good. I have been to Bennys three times a holy trinity of visits. Each time I have opted for a seminal chicken kebab. The chicken has been fresh and plump and proper (a bird sacrificed for the grace of our plates). The spices have oozed with flavour, cleansing my very soul. The pitta has been strong and resolute in its carrying of the other constituent items of perfection. The salad has been clean, cutting through the spice, to reclaim the innocence of my tastebuds for another spiritual bite. The hot sauce has teased my palate (and my perineum) with a fiery wet heat of a culinary miracle. The chips have been a hybrid of soft and crispy, like a kettle chip which has had an illegitimate child with a cloud. And the garlic mayonnaise, oh yes the garlic mayonnaise, embodies the fulcrum of the holy trinity of God. I believe in a church. The church of Bennys. It is wholesome, it is great, it guides me to the green pastures of hope, away from the barren epoch of servitude you get with other late night food venues. Benny was the 13th apostle and he founded his church here in Ashbourne. I once saw a drunk 19 year old get hit by a 2013 Renault Twingo outside of Bennys. Was he hurt? Was he maimed? No, a beam of alabaster white light transcending mind and soul came out of Bennys as it happened. He walked again. It’s not my place to say, but if that accident had happened anywhere else, I don’t think he would have lived. To me, Bennys is more than a kebab shop. Maj and the boys run one hell of an establishment. Just like Derbyshire was home to the Arkwright mills and the birthplace of the industrial revolution, it is home to Bennys my church. While the Arkwright Mills had consequences for the direction of mankind, so too, to a far greater extent, does Bennys. Fun fact: just down the road from Ashbourne is Belper where Timothy Dalton grew up."
