"imagine if they want to, a ancient secular fishing village down in the direction of the mouth of the river thames, which once testifies to a time the Roman poor, who directed his way upwards to lick the city of londinium. that is leigh at the sea, or old leigh, as it is known to the locals. the piece leigh, which was not transformed into a pose paradise of cafe/bars, ladies, eating and illegally parked expensive cars with equally expensive vanity. old leigh is just that old. it has been for hundreds of years to catch and serve in small tile skins. Of course, this has been hand in hand with a series of fine (and just as old) pubs, which have been cared for the soul man for an equally long time. to the peter boat. in its current incarnation, it is one of the newer pubs in old leigh and offers for two different masses: older regular (mostly of the year) and younger trinker (each the sun vague in view from mai to september and over christmas). the pub itself is certainly nothing special standard dishes, standard foods and manages to blur a price increase apparently based on the temperature. the service is always incredibly slow when the bar is busy (each of these sunny days) and the staff in the summer are the next students willing to work for minimum wage regardless of experience or ability. the winter is however a completely different fish boiler, but it is not really winter that makes the peter boat worth a train trip from london. in hot days, this pub comes alive. it generates huge amounts in nothing better than a parking lot full of picnic tables with a portakabin flew seafood in the corner. on one side there is the sea wall and the fishing boats with a view of the mouth canal (muddy sea bed, looking at the flood and coming out and kent far away from a clear day). what makes it special is the pure ingenuity, eccentricity and mix of people who drink in the sun. it is really a melting pot of the Essex people and I apologise to everyone to go there without running into at least one person they know. old leigh is one of my favorite places in my hometown and there are not many! I am not going enough there and I am critical of the overall Southend area. there are places like the peter boat and those who go there for year more that remind me why I loved it when I grew up. if they dare in this direction, they owe a visit....and are not deducted from the brights angels, essex young and girls or seafood they need to meet. it is never really a place, decorations, music or products that cneipen or bars make it the people. so they meet them; all character with their strata and all the long, sunny days of summer to tell them."

very busy as his bank holiday, but I have never eaten fish and chips as well as this, no fat fish was light and crispy and chips were crispy and fresh as beautiful I could not recommend enough

Although it is a very busy place the service is brilliant and the food is lovely. We had the Sunday mixed roast, only complaint is they don't give enough gravy! We need a jug each lol! Lovely place to go, recommend it.

During the winter months, this pub is just like any other in the area, but in the summer it truly shines. The courtyard outside becomes a lively hub as crowds from nearby pubs mix together, enjoying the sunny weather and creating a very welcoming atmosphere. Like any popular pub, there may be long wait times at the bar, but overall it is a very social and enjoyable place to be on a warm summer day. Speisekarte ansehen

a nice pub by the sea edge, which provides great outdoor views and opportunities to socialise making it the perfect plave to drink in the summer months. inside the pub could be a bit better laid out, as it gets quite hard to get around when busy. staff are friendly and professional, serving customers quite quickly too. a good selection of drinks and nice food, sometimes a bit pricey though for what you get.

The Peter Boat has fond memories for me as it's so many pubs in one location. It's brilliant if the sun's out and you want to get lazy drunk by the water waiting for the tide to come in. It's the place to be when Leigh has a festival on as you can sit and drink watching the world go by in all it's glory. Finally I'd recommend popping down there on a dark wintry rainy night as it's atmosphere changes completely. You feel exposed to the elements in the car park but once inside you don't want to leave. The recent and much needed refurbishment has given it a new lease of life. The only downside was last week we were refused breakfast at 11am after the Leigh 10K run as they claimed it was too lat...

We came here for Sunday roast and was not disappointed. The whitebait and cockle chowder starter was of a generous portion size as was the roasts. I had the chef's platter for main which again was a fair sized portion. With your Sunday roast you get a cauliflower cheese as well which again was very nice. The server's here are friendly and are able to advise you on the dishes on the menu. You only get a two hour slot to eat your meal but that was plenty for us. If you want afterwards you can visit the bar for more drinks or sit outside. Parking here is a bit hit and miss but there is plenty of spaces within a 5 minute walk. There is disabled parking but there are a lot of cobblestones so goin... Speisekarte ansehen

what a nice pub! it seems to be more pubs than houses in old leigh, so it was difficult to choose one (we had no time to try them all sad! . it was a cold but sunny afternoon and the peter boat has a large beer garden with a view of the sea. once in the pub order drinks, we realized how warm and cozy it was there and how cold it was outside. we decided to sit in but through the huge windows on the beer garden and the sea. the drinks were good and very favorable. the staff was friendly and there was a good choice of beer and apple wine. we had only one drink as we had only time, but we got Bretzel sticks and a plate of kanape's small French brot pieces with brie and cranberry, huh and sweet c...

Old Leigh never fails in providing pubs that provide atmosphere both outside and inside, but to me mainly outside. This small, and I mean small fishing port that specialises in shellfish cockles, whelks etc. This community dates right back and has a rich defined lineage, a name that jumps out regularly is Osborne an original fishmongers that exist within the Peter Boat car park and supplement those seeking beer with allsorts of seafood, in some cases when intoxicated being the only time you would eat some of the creatures on offer. The pub itself is fine and provides a full menu, but its beauty lies outside in my view, midst a sunset, or a warm summer 's evening with friends. or joining in t...
