I had two nights available when I recently came to visit family in the UK, and after my last meal a year ago - booked both nights here.

I called to get a drink at 7:30 in the evening, but the bartender informed me that the bar was closed. Unbelievable! Nonetheless, we decided to go to the Farmers instead, where we enjoyed a few drinks and a lovely meal.

Really enjoyed a very different lunch experience! Sat in a heated greenhouse with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Good variety of high quality dishes at above average prices but worth it. Very attentive staff, happy to come out in the rain to serve us! Thanks for making my Mum's birthday extra special!! Had a very nice leisurely lunch today at The Cartford Inn. Opted for the Specials menu which included the Sunday Roast of Beef Rump.Portions were large hot and freshly cooked. Being picky I would have preferred Beef Sirloin instead of Rump however food was delicious.The sweet menu was quite limited and on the pricey side.Overall I would highly recommend this lovely gastro pub and in fairness you get what you pay for. Great food n service, but only disappointment was literally being asked “how long you gonna be? We’ve got another booking for this table” within seconds of my sister putting her dessert spoon down and settling a bill of £400+ and the fact I’d already spent 40 quid on beers at the bar whilst I waited as I turned up early. Been here loads of time, always enjoyed it, but this time felt like a McDonald’s counter number. It’s not the Savoy, it might be the nearest thing we’ve got but I’ll be trying farmers arms next. My friend and I went yesterday (27/09/23) for lunch. We 've not been there for a while. Nice atmosphere, cozy, super clean and beautifully decorated. We both chose the fish pie which was delicious, as was the accompanying watercress, pickled red onion and pea side salad. Rounded off with a lovely dessert and a cappuccino coffee, which was one of the best I 've had dining out in a while. It turned out to be a lovely, unrushed meal, enabling us to catch up without worrying we were taking up the table for too long. For dessert, we chose the cheese board, and I have to say, I regret not taking a photo of it. At £15, it was a letdown for the cost. It included six artisan breads or crackers, some grapes, chutney, and four very small slices of various artisan cheeses. My wife, who is pregnant, opted for a non-alcoholic cocktail that wasn’t on the drink menu but was remembered by the staff, and that cost £8.50. Despite its price, it was quite nice. A note to management: I strongly disagree with the discretionary 10% service charge added to an already pricey meal.
