Went for Sunday dinner . Couldn't fault it! Food quality, service and helpfulness of staff, fabulous . Just needs a little attention to decor

Fantastic night for my dads 80th Birthday! Great food and excellent service from the staff at The Durham Ox thank you for making it such a special night!

Had an excellent meal for a family of 8. We were sat in a booth so all together. Great service and delicious food. 5 star. Had to prebook, leave a deposit and send pre orders so needed to be organised all went very smoothly. Thoroughly recommend. Speisekarte ansehen

Fantastic food, the service was not so good however, unacceptably long wait (over an hour) for the main meals. The waitress was very apologetic and offered us drinks on the house. It's just a shame that a fantastic experience was turned into an OK experience.

Thoroughly enjoyable experience seated by the fire. Broad range of food on the menu. 2nd time visiting had the chicken butter curry, absolutely beautiful and really nicely presented. Apple crumble cheesecake for pudding was also lovely. 10/10 great service too

We took family for their Christmas menu and only two of us actually chose that off the menu. We all really enjoyed our meals: tasty, plentiful and for one of us, Coeliac safe. The fire was blazing and the twinkling Christmas decorations made the pub warm and festive. The staff were as usual, friendly and accommodating. Recommend highly. Speisekarte ansehen

My wife and I booked for Sunday lunch. We had our dog with us. We were shown to a table and the waitress realised that it wasn’t suitable so showed us to another and brought a water bowl without being asked. The service was very attentive throughout and the food and drink excellent. A very comfortable environment with first class staff. Extremely relaxing. We will definitely be back. Others have said that the place looks nothing from the outside. They’re right, but the inside is what matters. And on the inside, they’ve nailed it.

We went during December, it didn't get off to a good start with our drinks order being wrong. Sadly, there was only the Christmas menu available. No choices for vegetarian celiac, but the staff were helpful and did me just vegetables and nut roast. Sadly wasn't a substitute for the yorkshire pudding or stuffing, and vegetables were sparse. I do like my vegetables on the al dente side, but they were hard. There wasn't a child's vegetarian menu either, so he had the same as me but again couldn't have the yorkie. Nice setting, very busy (and loud) this could be due to the time of year. Staff friendly.

I honestly don’t think we have ever had such nice food in our life’s!! We stayed over in the accommodation Saturday until Sunday we were very lucky to get a table for on the Saturday night and you do normally have to book that’s how good the place is. Also it shows how Lauren and her team will do anything to help and accommodate you! We had prawn cocktail to start my husband had a mushroom and cheese sauce both amazing then we had ribeye steak both cooked amazing… Sunday we loved the steak that much we had it again amazing.. this place is so so special, Lauren, Rachel, Lois.. and the team thank you so very much for accommodating us and looking after us through out….
