The atmosphere is terrific, the service is not. I was seated and 25 minutes passed, until finally I had to wave down a staff member and ask to order.

Gorgeous 17th century building with friendly and accommodating staff, but not stupendous food; the mushroom and tarragon soup was very heavy and didn't give

Food was poor a tiny piece of gravalax was served on a think chunk of bread and a dense blob of creme fraiche. Crispy beef salad was drowned in honey and soya sauce. Mushroom brioche was inedible. Waitress kept going outside and leaving the door open it was freezing. Speisekarte ansehen

Overall, the experience was positive. The chicken skewers, which were supposed to come with flatbread, were actually served on puff pastry instead. This was disappointing and there was no explanation given for the substitution. Additionally, the portion of sticky toffee pudding ice cream was quite small compared to the waffle ice cream.

The pub still has a nice atmosphere as usual, but these days the menu is a bit limited and on the expensive side. The burger was not great. There are many young staff members, but not enough management, leading to slow and frustrating service. Overall, the quality of the place has decreased. Hopefully, someone in charge can bring it back to its previous standards.

Dinner with friends. There was a large party of people near us who were quite noisy, but is was near Christmas, so expected and nit really a problem. Food was good, we did have to wait a while for mains, but it wasn't really an issue, they were hot and as expected. there did seem to be quite a lot of fish on the menu. Only too of us had deserts, and the sticky toffee pudding was a little disaponting, needed more toffee sauce. There is plenty of parking if you go through' the pub carpark past the farmshop. The food was decent, but the service was lacking. We had to constantly try to get the attention of staff to place our orders and found them to be inattentive. When we wanted to order desserts, we were informed that the kitchen had already closed. It would have been helpful if they had informed us earlier and asked if we wanted to order anything else. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common issue as other patrons have also been discussing the poor service. I used to be a regular customer, but I am now considering trying out other pub restaurants in the area.

Three of us went for lunch on Saturday December. My husband and I had been previously and were highly impressed by the warm reception, great service and good food. Unfortunately this visit was the complete opposite. There didn’t appear to be any management in charge and the staff were young and not very attentive. We waited at least minutes for our drinks and had to ask the waitress to check if they were coming. The restaurant was very quiet so they weren’t exactly rushed off their feet. This was without a doubt the worst dining experience that I have had in many years. Upon arrival we were seated in the dining room which was very quiet with only one other table occupied. We then waited minutes before we were offered a drink. Thirty minutes in our food order was taken, at which point we were told there was no steak'. There were six main courses on the menu, two of which were steak which all three of us had intended to order.
