"what a transformation. I have visited the boat in most of his guises in the run of the years and the current castings have nailed it. while maintaining the cozy, quirky comfort of the original building, they have redesigned the more modern extensions to a far better way than previous specialties. it is stylish, light and flowing. I was really impressed by the number of employees. it meant that the service was immediately and we were well looked after. I'd like to have ordered everything. as it was, I went veggie and starter, head and dessert were all top notch. I would recommend a booking. it was very busy and will be in summer due to the excellent flow side heaving. dog friendly"

Had the most delicious meal I've had in a long time. Rolled belly pork... Melted in my mouth !! Sat by a beautiful fireplace. The whole place was inviting and warm. Can't wait to go back. Couldn't recommend it enough.... wish I could give it more than 5stars....

The stunning approach in itself tells you it’s a special place. Had a marvellous Sunday lunch yesterday in the beautiful River Room, served by the most helpful staff. Returning with friends for Christmas lunch, but my wife and I can’t wait that long, and will be returning soon! Thank you for a great dining experience.

we came to lunch and decided to sit on the river, as there is a beautiful terrace with view, and it is at the end of a track as beautiful and peaceful as it does not by the traffic. eating is some of the best I had in the opposite and they have some possibilities that can be reduced in size for a child area that the little ones really enjoyed. we will definitely come back!

the first time to the boat and we live not so far away. beautiful location directly at the river dee. large seating area in the free and beautiful at the sunshine. staff very friendly and helpful. the decoration inside is just so beautiful. we had the steak band and chips and the hog bass. both were so delicious and the burger was beautiful and juicy. the tomatensalsa also went well with the burger. the black rate with filling was beautiful. in any case a nice place to visit and beautiful and out of the way.

we visited the boat house in erbistock with local friends from wrexham. I remember drinking at the boat “in my youth” and of course it has the same idyllic, stunning location in the distance of the river dee. since this halcyon days, however, really transformed and clearly with significant investment. it's stunning. we were in the bar, very relaxed and cooled. wonderful menu, excellent eating and a special “Call out” to the attentive imogen that we are looking for for for our four-hour stay. highly recommended.

"We stayed at The Watership Down Inn for one night as we were visiting the Bombay Sapphire distillery for a tour and had booked dinner at the Inn later in the evening to celebrate our anniversary. Upon arrival we were shown to the room. with...no real instructions indications as to breakfast times (the exact words were maybe 8:30ish, maybe 9:30, we'll let you know We did ask for this later into the night at dinner, and again were told rough timings but warned that these may change. Upon arriving at dinner, we were shown to our table, the bar staff seemed to require further training as they were unaware of what Campari was, or how it should be served (my partner had to point the bottle out on the bar). There was one waiter in particular who did seem knowledgeable, however, and managed to make classic cocktails for the couple beside us clearly a great asset to the team! The meal itself was great, high quality ingredients and we felt reasonably priced (including a bottle of red). Smaller things during service, however, were missed our water glasses were filled once and once only, my plate was removed within mere seconds of my final mouthful, and despite having added that it was our anniversary to the booking, there was no recognition of this (Why ask The room itself was spacious, the bathroom was a great size and very beautiful. The surroundings were again absolutely stunning. We had a terrible nights sleep, however, as the fire escape light (and 3 other bright green spotlights) were on all night leading a path to the door and the double bed was clearly two mattresses combined, meaning the middle of the bed had a gap to fall into throughout the night. Breakfast service was delayed due to a power cut throughout the kitchen (again, cannot be helped and completely understandable given the circumstances) at breakfast we did mention a few of the above issues, and were offered no real compensation, hence this review. Overall we probably wouldn't stay again, as we felt that for £100+ a night we would be given a warmer welcome, and that some of the issues we raised could have been compensated for upon our departure (a drink or a snack on the house for example would have been a lovely gesture)."

"I have to say this is the only time I have visited where I haven’t been satisfied It took ages for our order to be take for drinks when they eventually did take our drinks order we jumped at the chance and ordered our food. The starter arrived which was a sharing Camembert and we were not offered side plates which meant there was lots of cheese over the table after we had finished The food was ok I have no complaints there but after our plates were cleared for the main they did nor ask us to see the dessert menu or asked if we would like anything else. We waited and waited thinking that she would come back and we tried to get their attention without shouting by this time she had cleared the table next to us was being cleared and she immediately offered them the dessert menu. After half an hour of waiting to see the menu my fiancÃe had to walk up to the staff in the other room and ask for the bill because we weren’t going to be ordering desserts after having to wait. They were very apologetic but by this time it was too late. As myself and my partner don’t get to go on dates very often it ruined our one night out Service is everything in any establishment whether you’re eating pub grub or Michelin star food it’s not difficult to give great service and be attentive but when you clearly have wait staff who really clearly don’t want to be there it really shows I’m hoping this isn’t a regular occurrence but we won’t be going back for a little while."
