"Jet lagged and a bit dazed, we ventured into this neighborhood brasserie for our first meal in Paris. We speak very little French, but the proprietess speaks some English and provided an accurately translated menu. We started with a charcuterie platter tasty salami, rillettes (not cardiologist approved, but worth it), thinly sliced jambon, terrine, and cornichons to cut the heaviness of the meats, accompanied by the ubiquitous crusty bread. (note we took home some of this platter for snacks the next day) Bob then ordered a generous serving of roast stuffed veal, with sliced potatoes baked with cheese. I had ordered a salad, thinking it would be a nice small meal, and was served a large plate of, yes, lettuce, but it was topped with roast potatoes, cheese cubes, fried slices of jambon, and a fried egg, and dressed with a mild vinaigrette. Not light, but definitely delicious. We peeked at the dishes served at neighboring tables a large serving of foie gras, a cheese plate, and a cherry caflouti and the eaters all looked happy with their food. There is also a good selection of wines in various serving sizes. We also were lucky that most of the other diners were local regulars and quite chatty, making for a very pleasant evening. If you are visiting in the 18th arrondissements, this brasserie offers very good food, friendly service, and good value."
