We went on recommendation, the food was absolutely incredible! Garlic mushrooms were insanely delicious these are a must!! Cannot wait to go back already!

Definitely recommend. Very generous meal and the steak was cooked perfectly. So nice to eat somewhere that isn’t a chain and has a bit of personality. Great service and hospitality.

Had a great meal steak was done to perfection and the brandy coffee was lovely a very traditional Restaurent with table cloths and silver service just like it use to be such a lovely little gem of a place thank you for such a lovely experience Hilary John xx

Delicious food and very reasonably priced given the quality of it. The service is second to none super attentive but very friendly and warm. It's too easy to walk past and barely notice the restaurant is there given it's location above the shops on Whitefriargate but you're missing out if you don't give it a try. The steaks are delicious and there's some lovely fish options.

AWESOME would describe this eating experience. The food is very very good and the steak’s were fantastic. I prefer my steak blue rare, I cannot or would not dare to ask for even a rare steak at most so called steak restaurants. That is not the case at Lantern, It takes someone who knows how to cook steaks to get it right. Lantern is just that place. Charming dinner spot in the city centre that we heard had a great, long-term reputation. We weren't disappointed. Myself and my wife were recently on holiday in South Africa and had some fantastic steak out there, but the porterhouse at The Lantern was right up there with the best we tasted in SA. Seriously. The portions are huge, you won't go hungry. Everything was fresh, tasty and the mushroom sauce was incredible – my wife was practically drinking it! We visited the Lantern restaurant on a Saturday night a couple of weeks ago and had a fantastic meal and wonderful experience. We loved the original decor the Lantern boasts and we found out that it has been in the same family for nearly 60 years! The way in which guests are welcomed and the pride and care taken in the food served, you can really tell it's a family run establishment.
