"This is a tough review to write, maybe my most difficult! During our holiday, we were taste-testing Fish N Chips around Scotland. On our first visit to Nardini’s, I loved the Fish N Chips—this is why we returned. Although the food was good on this first visit, the service was poor to average. When we returned, it was a nightmare. We arrived just after 11 a.m. and hoped to have lunch and ice cream outdoors again. We were told we could only be seated outdoors if we were buying ice cream in their ice cream shop. Since we wanted Fish N Chips first, we were directed to an indoor table, planning to have Fish N Chips again, ice cream later. When we attempted to order, we were told they were only serving breakfast. Because we came for Fish N Chips and ice cream, and we could sit outdoors if we ordered from their ice cream shop, we chose to have ice cream first, then have Fish N Chips when they were serving it later. So, we walked through the open double doorway to Nardini’s attached ice cream shop to order sundaes and ice cream scoops. Here, we were told they didn’t serve sundaes in the ice cream shop—these were only available in the restaurant. So, we went back to the restaurant and were seated again. When we attempted to order the sundaes and the scoops of ice cream, we were told only certain flavors were available in the restaurant. If we wanted others, we would have to go back to Nardini’s Ice cream shop through the doorway. The waiter had no empathy for the difficulties, and their crazy rules—-he wasn’t even nice. At this point, we gave up and thought they don’t even know the meaning of friendly or customer service—we came to the conclusion they really don’t want our business, so we left and won’t be back! Wish we had never returned!"

We went here last year just for takeaway ice creams, so this year we decided to go for the sundae’s. We were welcomed by very friendly and kind staff and the restaurant area was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Large range of choices made it difficult to choose! The ice cream sundae’s we chose were delicious. We will definitely be going back when we are back in the area and would recommend.

Very busy Saturday afternoon and all staff seemed to be running about madly trying there best serve everyone but still had smiles in their faces. Really could have done with more staff but seems to be a shortage in a lot of places nowadays. Food took a bit longer than normal to come out but you don’t mind that when it’s freshly made if you want fast food go to McDonald’s. Had fish and chips followed by ice cream. Was all yummy.

My friend and I stopped for lunch on December 30th. I ordered a baked potato with prawns in a Marie Rose sauce. Unfortunately, the potato was unevenly cooked and hard in some areas, the prawns were overcooked and rubbery, and the sauce had a fake taste. I ended up leaving most of my meal. We also wanted to see the dessert and cake menu, but the staff took too long to come back to take our order. We ended up running out of time and had to pay for our main dishes and leave. After a 3.5 hour hike Knock Hill in Largs, we decided to visit the famous Nardini's for well deserved classic old school treats. The building and decor is still very much the classic Art Deco Nardini's. It's a 70s look, everything still looks fresh and nothing looks old. The we shared a homemade minestrone soup and sandwich plus one dessert each, the Chocolate Peanut Butter Sundae and a Chocolate/Vanilla two scoop. The sundae was delicious, peanut butter and chocolate is a fantastic combination. I alway try to visit Nardini's whenever I'm in Largs. It never fails to satisfy.

I enter to book a table for three..His demeanour was uninviting to say the least..when he took me yo the table..thew the menu down and walked away. I pointed out there was food crumbs on the seat..he lifted the seat and gave it a sort of bang. His intentions were to remove the crumbs. I pointed out that the food particals were still there, indeed all the chairs at out table were the same I pointed this out to him..he brushed his hand across the seat and said Is that good enough for you sarcastically and walked away. This is totally unacceptable behaviour. This manager will bring this cafe to it 's knees. I would NOT recommend this place for anyone

Popped in for some sundaes with family and friends from out of town on a Saturday evening at 5 pm to be told there were no tables available (approximately 15 out of ~40 tables were occupied). Staff were rude and it was just a very odd experience. Having read other reviewer's experiences here on TripAdvisor and Google Reviews I can see that it's not an isolated incident. Nardini's has gone to pot, it died already at the turn of the millennium and it's obviously about to collapse again. The building has a legacy, but the management have ruined it. I'd strongly advise against giving Nardini's your business, it's just encouraging abysmal treatment of loyal customers. R.I.P. Speisekarte ansehen

Yesterday, on a dreary winter day, we decided to venture out and ended up at Nardinis for lunch. The parking was convenient in the public car park nearby. The ambiance of the art deco seaside cafe, with a view of the stormy weather, was captivating. It felt just as enjoyable as visiting in the summer, without the crowds. We both ordered the fish and chips, a popular choice at this Italian cafe, and were pleasantly surprised. The dish was cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of grease. Each portion came with a side salad, coleslaw, and tartare sauce. The only downside was that the portion size was quite large, preventing us from indulging in a coffee and cake afterwards. Perhaps we'll...

We were excited to try this restaurant, but unfortunately, the young waiter we encountered was quite grumpy. There were very few other customers, yet he did not greet us with an apology, just a mumbled "for 2." We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, where he quickly threw menus on the table and left. Despite feeling guilty for only ordering coffee and cake, we found the quality to be excellent and worth the price. However, we were unhappy to see a 10% tip added to our bill without prior notification. Tipping should be the customer's choice, not forced upon them. If Nardini's wants to include an automatic tip, they should ensure their staff provide friendly and professional service....

"This is restaurant that in the past my family has visited and thoroughly enjoyed which lead them to taking me and my partner there for my 40th birthday celebrations. From the beginning they claimed to not have our booking even though we had electronic evidence of it being made. We struggled to get the attention of the barman to get a drink as we had to wait for our table. When at table we found the waiter service to be very slow throughout our visit even as the restaurant got quiet with only a few patrons left. Also the food provided was below standard such chips under cooked, salmon undercooked, undercooked lamb, cold peas etc and wrong items provided such as asking for tap water and being provided with mineral water, also a smashed burger was ordered and a normal burger was provided. At the end of the service we ordered another round of drinks and they weren’t provided as ordered as we waited more than 15-20 mins for it so decided to get bill too see they had been added which then added around £20 to bill. Luckily we noticed and got our money back. As it was a 40th birthday celebration my family provided 40 candle for staff to then replace with their own high burning candle which nearly caught light shade at table. This was a poor service for a Saturday night the staff seemed distracted and unorganised throughout and unable to cope with the amount of customers. I do not think I will attend in future as feel this dampened our celebration"

"We were a party of 5, on a cold, very wet Saturday evening, coldest so far I would say! We drew up and saw a young family of 3 sitting with jackets on in the conservatory area, we were a bit concerned! We took a...seat at the back of the conservatory which proved to be a big mistake! There was a terrible draught coming from behind me, I did mention it and was told it was 27c at the middle of the room, but not where we were sitting!! I mentioned it a few times and sat with my shawl scarf on throughout! I pulled down the window blinds hoping that would help, nope!! We ordered our food, I asked about a vegetarian option for my husband, our waitress did say he could a veggie option on the curry and the tempura or risotto, which was helpful! I had to ask what was the soup of the day and also the pate!! I did feel that maybe in this day and age there should have been a small dedicated vegetarian area on the menu, but that’s just my opinion! 3 of our party had starters which were great, Cullen skink, scallops and langoustine tempura, Main courses arrived, 3 fish and chips, one lemon soul and one veggie tempura, all were excellent except for the veggie tempura which was large shards of onion and carrot in an albeit lovely batter, but not all vegetarians like huge chunks of vegetables! 4 of our party had a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, which was plentiful! Overall we had a pleasant meal, little or no atmosphere though, one of the younger waitresses (white shirt, black skirt) was friendly and more talkative, the waitress (dressed all in black)who served us was, we all felt a little disinterested and lacked any empathy with the guests! We asked for our bill, the youngest waitress came with the card machine and felt how cold it was only then did she check the windows to find there was one opened, hence the draught, which spoiled our visit because we were felling it cold!! We paid the bill and left a tip on the plate, no one came to say thank you for you custom, or have a nice evening, nothing!! All in all it was pretty inhospitable! Value you for money, it was good for the standard of the food!"
