"The food at this restaurant is of excellent quality, the ambiance is pleasant, and the staff is friendly. I have visited before for Sunday lunch and had a great experience. I brought friends last night to celebrate my 60th birthday, and although one of our party is very picky about his steak (I have seen him send it back at many places), he couldn't find any fault with it this time. He not only finished his meal without complaint, but he also didn't leave any leftovers. I would highly recommend this place."

"Before our arrival, we called ahead to reserve a table for Friday evening as we had heard it can get busy and booking in advance was recommended. We made a reservation for 5pm. We had checked the menus online beforehand but were having trouble finding information about the opening hours, which was frustrating as we needed to plan around our children's feeding schedule. Upon arriving at our lodge at 4pm, we searched for information inside about the tearooms and how to get there as we were located on the opposite side. We couldn't find any visible site maps and were pressed for time as our table was booked. Luckily, we encountered a staff member who informed us that it was only a half-mile walk and advised us to call ahead if we might be running late. Upon reaching the tearooms, we were the only patrons there. Even when we left, there were only a few other guests. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We visited again on Saturday evening and once again found it to be quiet. Despite it being a lovely summer evening, there were no other guests around. It's a shame that guests may not be aware of this wonderful place. The Saturday menu only offered two choices: a meat platter or a meat and cheese platter, which wasn't ideal for children. However, the chef kindly accommodated our kids with plain white bread and child-friendly ham. Overall, we highly recommend it as a place to enjoy a drink, relax, and then take a leisurely stroll back to your lodge."

"The Hase is an excellent pub next to Hessle Church. There is a wide range of beers and lagers on offer including three cask conditioned hand pulled real ales, something a lot of pubs can't manage so full marks to the landlord. It is a bit of a tardis it looks small from the outside but it goes back a long way. The pub sells excellent food at reasonable prices, the staff are very friendly, a great pub for a drink or a bite to eat. Highly recommended. "2 of us booked as I heard it was nice and was really looking forward to trying here. We had 3 courses each and I was starving, my first 2 courses were fine, good pub grub. I ordered the sweet off the specials and unfortunately it was off, rancidly off. When they put it in front of me I could smell a horrible smell, I honestly didn’t think it would be the sweet so decided to try it, I had to spit it out. I could only describe the taste and smell as out of date cottage cheese and that is being polite. I did make the owner/manager aware and he took it away. He came back to say he had tasted it and it was fine, I explained it really wasn’t and even the smell was stomach wrenching but he continued to dispute this. His attitude wasn’t nice if I am honest. I was polite and discreet. Although he did not charge for the sweet I would suggest that maybe how he deals with customers and how he makes them feel should be addressed. I never, ever complain but when something is as off as this was I really do not expect the manager/owner to come out seem argumentative and then say there was nothing wrong with this. I just hope the sweet was taken straight off the menu as would have made someone ill. Such a shame as I left feeling very disappointed and I accept mistakes are made but due to the attitude I won’t be back nor recommend here due to how it was dealt with."

"First and last experience with hessle tandoori. Ordered over £40 worth of food online with a 45 minute delivery time. Order eventually came 1.5hours later with missing items. Rang to tell them and they said they would get the delivery driver to drop them off. 20 minutes later, still not here. After being told a million times how busy they are (not a paying customers problem) I was told I would get a call back in 5 minutes. Another 15 minutes go by so I call back and get the phone put down on me as soon as I tell them my address. My partner rings and gets told how busy they are another 6,365 times. And that they will give us the missing items for free on our next order (next joke, we will not be ordering again). I tried to explain that a takeaway customer is still a paying customer, just like those in the restaurant and if I was sat in the restaurant I wouldn’t be happy waiting 2 hours and 20 minutes at this point and also wouldn’t be happy to pay for cold food whilst the rest of my order was still MIA 40 minutes after letting them know. Every person we spoke to (about 3 men in total) was all as rude as each other and I can’t believe the money we’ve paid for cold food. Will absolutely NEVER eat here again!"
