brilliant service, got the table fast, even if we book. beautiful atmosphere and amazingly delicious eating. the desserts are good to the sticky toffee was the best I ever tasted. I recommend this pub

Food was delicious, but service was extremely slow. Had to ask waitress to take empty dishes away about 20 minutes, and also waited and then had to ask for dessert menu and then the bill, which was a let down.

had a nice experience recently in their spacious beer garden of an evening. service was smiling, efficient and friendly. I had the most delicious duck and watermelon salad. it was so refreshing and I would highly recommend! Speisekarte ansehen

amazing eating and excellent service as always. the braided pork were good from the planet and the sweet grain ribs were also delicious. even the children's meal mini burger was better than many pubs can manage! highly recommended.

four of us have booked for Sunday dinner. the staff was very friendly and attentive, although it was incredibly busy. three of us had the pork bell and one of the fish and chips. the meals were fantastic and enjoyed by all of us. before and never had been disappointed and will certainly be back. also thought it was a good value for money.

"We have been visiting The Chequers at Burcot for years, it used to be ok but recently the prices have increased and the quality of the food and the service has dropped. I took my mum for a NYE dinner and her £36 fillet steak arrived like charcoal, mine was less burnt but not right. The fries were greasy and cold and the mac cheese looked worse than store bought. Upon pointing out the charcoal steak to the waiter, he told my mum to try it, she might like it and proceeded to walk off in a huff. When he returned to the table with condiments, my mother informed him that a he didn’t like it. He was then even more obstinate, saying “this steak is cooked by Steve Sanderson, the owner and that is cooked correctly, plus you wanted it cooked well done”. At this point I informed him she would not be eating it and it needs to be changed, he ripped it from the table and stormed off. Following this service, we decided that we would not be continuing the meal, I spoke to another server/FOH and told her we would be paying for the drinks but nothing else. I realise that she was trying to apologise, but there was no amount of touching my shoulder that would make me change my mind. And felt like an invasion of my space. So we paid for the drinks and walked out. On the way out, another server joyfully said ‘I doubt I will be seeing you again, maybe on the street’ Thanks to Steve Sanderson and the team for ruining our NYE."

"We stumbled upon this little gem and fell in love with the place as soon as we parked. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the decor is beautiful—plus, the garden is inviting and well-maintained. As a family of steak lovers, we were in heaven, as the steaks were truly out of this world. The food is made from scratch, and you can really taste the quality. If you enjoy great dining, this place is definitely worth a visit. Just make sure to book in advance, as it fills up quickly. This was our first visit, and we hope it won't be our last!"

"We have visited this Caribbean restaurant several times for a reasonably priced meal. Menu a bit limited, with several chicken versions , ox tail and goat curry. With the chicken it can be a bit hit and miss, sometimes a lovely juicy piece of chicken,...sometimes mostly bone, as was the case for my partner on this occasion. I though chose Akhee and Saltfish as it is more reliable, which came with steamed vegetables, black rice, and mac n cheese. I enjoyed my meal but it's a pity the chicken dished are not more predictable."

"I ordered on just eat. Delivery was prompt, however I had ordered a butter chicken and was sent a chicken korma, I rang and questioned it and was told a butter chicken has coconut and is sweet. The chicken tikka was also sweet and it felt as though they had seasoned it with sugar instead of salt. The naan was amazing as was the saag aloo which was a bonus dish I wasn’t expecting! (A lovely surprise) I was very confused as I have ordered from here many times. The customer service when I questioned the dish I was delivered was very strange as it was almost as if they didn’t know how to reply. I felt as though they had run out of the dish and sent a replacement. And wasn’t expecting to be questioned on it"
