"Great little spot tucked away in an Albert Sq. basement. For nostalgia purposes, I opted for the Vietnamese Pho w/ rum steak which was delightfully accompanied by herbs, beansprouts, fried onions and chills which you yourself then add. Steak was well cooked and the rice noodles were silky smooth as expected. Wolfed down a generous bowl of chilli oil edemae beans which were equally tasty Brisk service with friendly staff. Love how you can peer into the kitchen, and the cheeky sweet that accompanies the bill."

Lovely Asian eating place at the heart of Manchester city center. The place was great, full of people. Love the duck with tamarind over rice. Duck was tender, vegetables were fresh and crunchy with shallot crispies only accentuates the dish.

Just been and had a lovely meal. Couldn't get into Pho in Corn Exchange. It was too busy but we ate Viet off their menu. Delicious, however, I think I prefer Thai. Staff were great, altogether a very enjoyable experience although Manchester was heaving cos of market.

I don't think I've ever had a meal here that I haven't enjoyed. The service is always fast and food is always hot and delicious. I always get something different but oh my goodness the katsu curry and laksa are both mouth-wateringly good and I'd return just for either dish.

Lovely decor with fast and friendly service. Some different things on the menu I’ve not seen before in Thai restaurants. Sweet Potato Curry was divine the curry sauce was absolutely beautiful. 3 or 4 GF options available including the Singaporean curry which I was told was delicious. Would recommend the food and this place.

fantastic eating and service. there are many different means of life available (classical pasta and rice dishes, tempura garnelen, curries, rarmen. and everything was delivered to our table soon after the order. if they are in the opposite and decide to try it, ask for our server: kornel. He'll take care of you as he did to us.

I was commissioned by David Fox of Tampopo to take photos over three sites for their new website. They've been a constant of the Manchester restaurant scene for 18 years, that's an awful long time in this business. David asked on twitter recently, of the 43 restaurants listed in the Manchester City Life Guide in 2000, how many are still open?

we wanted to find a new place to din. the food is great, but the service is probably the best part. kaz, our waiter, was attentive and personal, and raised the experience. the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the kitchen can be seen at any time. the only part is that the courts of my opinion are absent, especially in the meat department. But I can highly recommend here.

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."

"I've been to a couple of different Dishoom branches a few times and have never been disappointed by the breakfast options. The sausage naan roll is excellent. A couple of really tasty vegan sausages with some melted vegan cheese all wrapped up in a lovely soft naan and served with some sort of sweet chilli dipping sauce. My go to now is usually the vegan Bombay. It's a good hearty breakfast plate with... a couple of the same well seasoned vegan sausages. Some vegan tofu akuri a nicely spiced tofu scramble. Some very well cooked mushroom slices (that are maybe a wee bit under seasoned). The baked beans are really nicely spiced, elevating them far beyond the standard sweet sauce fare that's the usual. A few slices of well flavoured black pudding (that could be fried to being a bit crispier). A cooked tomato which is a bit dull, I've never been keen on tomatoes on my breakfast plate and this once has not changed my mind. It could do with some more charring and maybe some spicing. To help you mop everything up, the whole thing is served with a couple of soft bread buns that have been nicely toasted. I usually top the whole thing off with some chocolate chai with oat milk you get free refills for your chai. Unfortunately, it isn't wheelchair accessible. There are stairs up into the restaurant and various small flights of stairs to get to different parts of the restaurant. Updated from previous review on 2024 03 25"
