my wife and I visited this public house today for Sunday dinner and was more than satisfied with the beautiful food, which can only be described as a delicious house style on Sunday afternoon 10/10 and not forget the nice and friendly host. we are looking forward to a new visit at a very reasonable price of just £9.95 for the main course

Trying to support local and different pubs in the area but tonight it just did not work. Ordered 2 burgers and a pizza at 6:30 on a very quiet food wise evening and eventually got our meal, which we had to send back twice, an...hour and 15 mins later. Very disappointing. Manager was apologetic but in general waiting staff need to improve their customer service skills.

for a group of hikers for a lunch break. the website checked for menus, but google said it was permanently closed! when one of the groups was here before a week, we were not too worried. but when we arrived this morning, there was a sign that the place was closed because of unforeseen circumstances. Please note them and check them before they come. that said that things happen so that I am not too critical, but it was a disappointment.

Nice pub in a good location, a couple of miles from Thrapston, with ample car parking. There is also outdoor seating. We had calamari, scallops and tempura prawns to start. Mains, sea bass, burger and gammon steak. Desserts were, Elton mess and ice cream. Food...was tasty and ample portions. The service was first class. Such a friendly team and so welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Our bill was £70. We will be going back to have Sunday lunch.

My son moved into the village around the start of COVID and we dropped in the night before lockdown. Not a fair time to judge anywhere. So at first opportunity four us booked and early Saturday meal. Attentive staff, good selection, good value, served hot...and clean /pleasant surroundings. The operation has changed hands we understand from Inga, who served us and is a part of the management team. A character and good fun she is. Good luck with the venture, new would certainly come back and would recommend.

A choice of 4 starters, three meats and 4 puddings were on the menu. The chicken strip starter was nice, as was the red velvet cheesecake for pudding. Main meal was OK. Potatoes let the meal down, we all left most of the roast spuds....I think they had been boiled and fried rather than roasted. Gravy was rather thin, but the Yorkshire pudding was the star of the show, very tasty indeed. £19.95 for three course, was fairly reasonable, food served piping hot. Staff very friendly. Service wasn't the fastest, but we were not in a rush, so that was OK. Dining room pleasant, patio doors were open, so it was a little chilly while we ate.

We visited this pub last night with 2 other couples for an evening meal. We live in Ringstead but hadn’t been to the pub for a long time and decided to try out the food. The menus on the website were not the menu we...were given, we were provided with an Evening restaurant Menu, which gave you more choice than the main meal menu on the website, for Starters and the Main Course. We all chose different items and the majority of us had 3 courses. The food was really enjoyable to eat, the portion sizes and prices were very reasonable. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful. We were very happy with the whole experience and the food was delicious.

We visited for the first time with our new puppy for lunch. The staff were all very friendly, and the food was okay. We sat down and were given around 6 different menus including some that didn’t pertain to our visit (given a Sunday...menu despite it being a Wednesday We ordered a chicken starter which was huge for a starter! The chicken was a little greasy, and the batter didn’t have a massive amount of flavour, but the chicken itself tasted fresh. The madras curry was great and the fish was massive! My only gripe with the main meals would be the lack of chips with my fish I only got around 10 chips! Staff were great and food was okay. For the price, we would definitely return!

"a difficult review when the restaurant tried to provide the service that I am sure they wanted. a busy Saturday midday in December, all the tables were tightly packed, there were no ceiling ventilation or were all windows open to provide covid ventilation protection. the menu is large with a lot of choice. we went for a selection of starters to share under the family. most were very small dishes, the flower flowers bites consisted only small floccules. I think that this was too expensive for everyone. for the net I divided half a steak/ale cake and crispy chili bark. the bark in the torte was chewing and blande, the chips rode in a customs of their life, and the muddy peas were simply crushed, cultivated garden. the chili beef on the other side was sensational, fully spiced, steaming hot and loads of it, with rice and crack. the dishes could no longer differ in quality and taste. similar mixed results were reported from the rest of the table. I appreciate that covid has hit local food companies hard and they are still trying to get their pre-pandemic service. there were many guests who were fed and the kitchen struggled to supply consistency; our main dishes were delivered in intervals, so we did not eat together and it took to put the net on the table. as mentioned it was brushed, but a service fee was added to the bill. I think this is a bad service, even if one takes into account the difficulties of the covid. I hope that this feedback will be taken and traded so that we can see an improvement when we visit next."

"[edit] kept me a promise to return to food, and I was not disappointed. We have sung with friends that we haven't seen for over five years, and it was the ideal choice to recover from a beautiful meal. A warm and welcoming welcome from all employees, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We ordered drinks from the bar and immediately sat in the dining room. Menus and specialties of the day were provided. Although it was pretty busy, we never felt cramped or that it was too loud as it could be in other settings. The layout of the tables made our group of four feelings, we had private food, also occupied with any other table. We chose Pate (x2), mussels and engraving, followed by Red Lion Burger, Pasta parmigiana, fish and chips and duck. For dessert, Rhabarb crumb cake, sticky toffee pudding. All dishes came sharp with perfect timing. Our servers were always available for drinks, but never float ominous. The food here is excellent. Really. I haven't eaten it well for some time. A great thank you to Phil, John and her staff for having an evening to remember for all the right reasons. What the personal touch must be. You have just expanded the outdoor seating area, and I am happy to come back when it is warmer to enjoy some fine al fresco restaurants. [1. Review] We visited a birthday function here in the beer garden. What a beautiful pub that is. They even had a pizza van that made delicious fresh pizzas. The staff were efficient and extremely helpful and friendly, always on hand, and from the comments I heard from other diners in the pub, everyone had enjoyed their meals. I will definitely return with my family."
