"spicy garlauchbrot is incredible (full green chili) that was perfect for us the gamberoni fritti made us a perfect starter, but the manzo cacciatore was certainly not made with filet steak. it is always a shame when the quality of the ingredients. are not as described that this court was one of them. we had both the main dish manzo cacciarore fillet steak pieces, although very nice was not fillet steak pieces. I mention this because this was our only problem that I am a metzger that is all my life long, I know how I say, though very nice, it should be sold as it is. the service staff was very good in a very lively restaurant. I mentioned my problems to our young server, but no answer from the administration wanted to cause no scene."

We booked online, via the restaurant website and received a call prior to our booked time to confirm the reservation, which was helpful as we did not receive an email confirmation. Our party included two adults and two kids and our overall experience of the...food and service was very positive.

During a day trip to Matlock, we stumbled upon Viva Italian. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to accommodate us. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance, with friendly and helpful staff. The food was exceptional, with delicious flavors and beautiful presentation. We will definitely be returning, but next time we will make sure to book in advance so we don't miss out. Booked a table based on Trip advisor. The Resturant feels like it has slipped a tad. While staff were polite, they did not remove empty glasses when drinks were replaced. The seafood pasta dish was basically like festive mascapnoe and fennel flavored pasta with one...large mussel. The fillet steak, olives and mozzerella sounded interesting. However individually they would have been fine but it was basically a fillet steak covered in Raviola sauce. Just a bid odd and did not blend well.

The menu at Viva offers a variety of options where customers can choose from three types of pasta with a sauce of their choice. I found this to be a nice touch. The service was efficient and friendly. Our waiter informed us that they were out of beetroot for the salad we had ordered, and asked us to choose another salad ingredient to replace it. This was a thoughtful gesture as many restaurants would have simply served the salad without mentioning the missing ingredient. As we enjoyed our main course, one of the chefs brought a small dish of beetroot to our table.

We went to this restaurant on a quiet night and the atmosphere was calm. The young waiter who served our meal was friendly and pleasant. However, the young girl who also served us showed no enthusiasm and seemed disinterested. The bruschetta appetizer was dry and undercooked. For our main dishes, we ordered chicken in a brandy sauce and chicken breasts. Both dishes had dry and tough chicken. When we brought this to the attention of the unattentive waitstaff, they simply shrugged it off. Considering the price we paid, we expected much better quality. Had garlic bread with cheese for starter had tomatoes on too husband said best garlic bread he’s ever had and he doesn’t take these things lightly and had the antipasto starter to share between us all. Kids loved it all too....Big kids portions of anything off menu just cheaper love this!! Hate assumption that kids just want nuggets and chips they rarely do! I had the salmone spaghetti gorgeous and husband had the pork. Kids shared a spag Bol and a pizza. All really enjoyed it. Waitress was lovely, food was piping hot and delicious. We were walkins in early opening and was empty, within minutes was packed lucky to get a table.

The last night of our holiday spoiled by poor food and service. Pros Excellent garlic bread Good calzone OK lasagne Cons Tapenade was just a jar of capers in vinegar wizzed through a food processor. The driest chicken served as a main after much discussion...with the manager due to allergies. Very peppery carbonara made with cream instead of the traditional way. Cheap, overpriced Chianti. Excuses were made by the manager when we sent the awful chicken back and we had to ask to have it taken off the bill. Overall this is not a restaurant for anyone who enjoys genuine, fresh, Italian food. It’s a restaurant that’s trying too hard with a big menu and missing the basics. Aimed at holiday makers...
